Miss Donna on her Helix and me on my SWing took a day run up to LaPorte last Saturday. LaPorte is a tiny settlement in the Sierra Nevadas about 80 miles east of Marysville.

Thought you might get a chuckle out of this photo I took on the road...

Bob,

That is good riding up there and hope you had fun. How does the Helix do in the mountains? The Reflex I had didn't do good at all really, but I'm sure those that did the K-mod on the Reflex did ok. The Majesty had no problem, 2 up even, and my SWing has no problems whatsoever.

Why weren't you able to upload the pics? Where they too big i.e. too many pixels? There are things you can do if that is the case.

Yes, we really did use those terms in the Navy.... What a Face

Hi, Jeff...no, I downsized the photos...they're 109-135 kb JPEGs, so they should have gone in...I'll try again...

There it went in...was kind of hoping it would embed in the entry, but the link is OK.

To answer your question about the Helix, we have to run quite a ways up the highway (65/70 north, in this case) to get to some of the good riding areas like LaPorte, so when Miss Donna and her Helix started coming along, I was a bit worried. Donna is 70 years old, but she's been riding for 50 years, so I learned quickly that her skills were fine. Her Helix does quite well and has no trouble keeping up until elevation gets over 4500' or so...then the carburetor jetting just doesn't quite work as well, so her top speed is limited to 45-50 on the straights and slight upgrades...otherwise, on the flats or at lower elevations, 70-75 indicated is no problem for her....
