| What speeds do you ride at regularly. Hopefully this isn't a rethread, it didn't come up when I searched? I've only had 2 tanks so far and I've had 54.1 & 56.4 so I've been happy. I average 40-55mph daily. I'm a lightweight at 150 lbs so I probably won't do much better which is okay. I do care more about mpg than the average scoot rider, I enjoy riding so I use my car as little as possible and its a Honda Fit that averages mid 30s. So we do well in the gas dept. I did get spoiled to the near 100 of the SH150i and the consistent mid 70's of my former Reflex, but "hey" its a Silverwing so I can live with it |

| You are right on the money with your report. I weigh more and ride faster and get 48-52 mpg. Keeping it under 45mph will get you more mpgs. Good luck with you new-2-u SW! |

| 2138 miles, 53.8 mpg avg. Of course that's hauling my 245 lbs around and very little city miles (there aren't many cities up here). |

| My ride is a mix of a few miles of secondary streets, a few miles of open freeway, a few miles of stop and go traffic, and the rest is winding foothill highway. I weigh about 240 and on the open freeway I typically cruise at about 65 mph to 70 mph (indicated) with an occaisional burst into triple digit range. I just passed 6,400 miles today and usually average somewhere in the 51 mpg to 52 mpg range. |

| I only have one tank so far as my SW was new. Got 51.7 on that and I figure it may do a little better when the motor loosens up a bit. BTW I weigh 235-240 also. |

| After 3600 miles doing about 60% in town and 40% highway, I 'm averaging 47.46 mpg.
The average is starting creep up since I'm doing more Highway miles
nowadays.

| I've put a little over 14k on mine in the past year and have had a couple times near 54 and some in the mid 40's avg at about 49. The lower mpg are more from the low temps and denser air. I ride an avg 66 miles a day for work at 70 mph. I live 3 miles from the highway and my work is almost 3 miles off the highway. I do some city driving for errands and some free time. It is still better than the car that avg's 27.

| What I've learned about the Silver Wing over the years it's been in production is that the earlier models are known to be a lot thirstier than the the later ones. I've no idea of the year Honda tweaked the engine for better mpg, but as a rough visual guide I'd say the that if you have a Silver Wing with storage pockets colour matched to the bodywork, it won't match the later models on fuel economy.
A similar topic was debated on the UK Muppets forum earlier this year, owners of the earlier Silver Wings were only averaging mpg in the mid 30's, and that's in our Imperial gallons not the smaller US gallon.

| That makes sense Meldrew! I think my model was the last year they had the colour matched storage compartments (-2007), and even though my SW is the 400 version, the best mpg I get is 50 on autobahn runs Around town it's more like 45mpg SteVe |

| Maybe there is a link with the sensor in the exhaust. (newer types) My SW, 2001, lacks the sensor.
When the computer gets info about the burnt gas , it's easy to manage a better engine efficiency.

| 1st tank so far around the island 56.2 MPG, very impressed. I will know more on my second tank on Thursday. I like the belt drive of the Honda, it's definately different from the Burgman 400 and 650. |

| Mine is an 05.
I get 50 if I ride decent by not hitting it hard off the line and plan my stops a little better.
If I am racing around town... and riding hard on the highway, I can get it down to 40 mpg.
I weight 250 lbs so my bike thinks I am riding two up all the time.

| I have an 03 and with a tall GIVI windshield, big top box and my 240lb weight I get pretty consistently 45mpg with 26gram Dr Pulley sliders. |
