| I found very detailed instructions on Silverwing.org but he installed a lot of stuff and it was confusing. Does anyone know how to install one on a Silverwing? Just the Horn. Any help would be appreciated. The dealer wants to charge $200.00 to put it on Melanie |

| Melanie, I plan to install Stebel horns in our SilverWings (wifes and mine) this weekend I'll try to carefully document the process with text and photos (maybe short videos too). |

Any help would be appreciated. The dealer wants to charge $200.00 to put it on Melanie If you information is from http://silverwing.org/cgi-bin/topic_show.pl?pid=12960#pid12960 ... then that would be me. There are two major decisions for a Stebel Nautilus horn. 1) Where am I going to power the Stebel Nautilus horn from If you look at http://www.bikerhiway.com/stebel-nautilus-compact-motorcycle-air-horn-black-p-869.html you will see " Includes Heavy-duty 30 Amp Relay" That is a lot of AMPS, so wire gauge, wire lengths, current wire load and fuses come into consideration. I would also suggest clicking "Frequently Asked Questions" ... you will see: Do I need to use the Deluxe Wiring Kit that you also sell? Why can’t I just use the existing wiring? The wiring which comes with your motorcycle can’t handle the electrical load required for the Stebel Nautilus Compact Motorcycle Air Horn. It is necessary to use heavy-duty wiring and a fuse, in addition to using the relay that comes with the horn. Otherwise you will damage your existing wiring and horn button. The Deluxe Wiring Kit contains all of the heavy-duty wiring components you'll need to install the horn, and saves you a trip to the local hardware store. So using existing wiring is not recommended for powering the horn. The relay will connect the wires to the old horn, but the power to run the horn is separate ... where will you be running/getting the wire from. In my case I ran separate power plates and grounding blocks completely separate from Honda's wiring ... which may seem complicated but for me was the best way to diagnose problems 2) Where are you mounting the horn. Once you answer these two questions ... then you will to perform the steps for each. In my case, I did install a lot of stuff ... but I made sure that any other additions NEVER required me to perform full REWIRING. |

| There are many ways i seen people mount the Sebel horns. I wanted to mount mine so they are hidden from view but still can be heard. Below are a few pictures of how i mounted mine. http://paulscooter.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=11863410 http://paulscooter.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=11863420 http://paulscooter.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=11863429 Paul |

| If you had decided to watch this thread hoping for a new post with photos that would provide some new insight on the horn installation - sorry. I was overwhelmed with outside tasks and did not get a chance to install the horns this past weekend. Hoping to get to it next weekend. |

| I regret to inform anyone hoping for a speedy response - I am lazy and covered up with work (dang job).
I have started the write-up and will finish it someday soon. One horn is installed, need to verify my notes with the second install and get better photos. |

| Earlier this year I was thinking about haveing anyone, that wanted to...Come to my home and tent camp in the back yard, and go riding around the north eastern Oklahoma (Tulsa) area, for 3 days and 2 nights. It would be fun. Lots of decent roads and great places to eat. There's a Best Western just around the corner for those that don't like tent camping. Tent Caming in the backyard and having a firepit to sit around at night sure sounds like fun to me. O'well it was just a thought. |

| Hi Steve,
I do still make the RAM type GPS mount, I just do not supply the RAM ball any more. If you want one please email me. They are $37.00 plus $4.50 shipping. I did reduce the price of my mount from $45.00 down to $37.00 for the lack of the RAM ball P/N RAM-B-236U. Here is a information thread to the 1" RAM ball : http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/PartDetails/tabid/63/partid/082065077045066045050051054085/Default.aspx GPS City has a good price on the ball and shipping is only $1.99 http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-0.38-16-male-thread-with-1-inch-ball.html I will send along the Stainless Steel 3/8 washer and 3/8-16 nut. |

| Hi All,
I installed a Stebel horn for Gary last weekend. Gary's scooter is a ABS type and after taking all the tupperware off the front of the scooter, no really good mounting location was to be found. So Gary came up with the idea of mounting it in the right glove box. So we cut out, most of the glove box bottom just enough to let the sound horns come through the bottom. The horn mounting bolt goes through the side of the glove box. Gary said he never really never uses that glove box because of the size. This all worked out well the horn works great in this location.
Gary, If you get a chance, take a picture and post it. |

| I have a few pics made. Am working on getting them sized for the forum...
I really did hate to give up that extra suitcase storage area, but it appears to me that that is a perfect place for it. Still easy access to radiator reservoir. Nothing really lost and a big sound added. Sounds like a train. I love it.
Will put pictures here shortly.
Dennis, I am going to let you answer any wiring questions that are asked. Thanks again for all the work you did. |

| OK guys, once again because I don't know and you do. In my post about my crash, Okiebezer recommends the "WOLO bad boy airhorn" and dspevack suggests the Stebel Horn. From what I can see, it looks like more of you have used the Stebel horn, is there a reason for this? Is one better than the other?

| All I can say is that the Stebel sounds very much like a train... it is very loud and will hurt your ears if you are right in front of it ... BUT ... it WILL BE HEARD by any vehicle that you want to warn of your presence... I don't know about the WOLO. Do not blow this horn in an enclosed room... windows might blow out... this is no girly horn. |

Looks like the Stebel Horn and the WOLO bad boy airhorn are the same package design except the WOLO in less money. Get the WOLO, install it and report back. |

| I did not do a lot of research here, just googled and picked one of each at random... Both do have a similar tone, but the Stebel is about 20 db louder at 139 db as opposed to 118 db for the Wolo. Wolo is certainly louder than the 0.0000000009 db of the stock horn. Just my own personal estimate. Wolo is listed at PRICE $52.99 at this link : http://www.wolo-mfg.com/air.htm Stebel is listed at Your Price: $39.00 at this link : http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=214515&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse |

The difference between the two ( 139 db - 118 db ) is 21 db. The db scale is logarithmic meaning that 21 db is significantly stronger. Use the rule of thumb that 3 dB gain corresponds roughly to twice as much power .... therefore the Stebel horn is 14 times stronger ( ( 21 db / 3 db) x 2 == 14). |

| We don't "hear" linearly, we do "hear" logarithmicly. In order to "hear" twice the volume, we need to increase the power by a factor of 10. Just based on the numbers, when the time comes, I guess I'm gonna go with the Stebel. Bill |

| Hi Bill,
Have you ever taken the front or left side cover off your scooter?
Have you installed a power outlet in you left glove box?
The new horn comes with a 4 pin relay that gets used by your old horn wires and NEW power wire. You need to remove your old horn.
You will need a small spool of red and green 14 gauge wire and a in-line mini fuse power wire and a package 20 amp mini fuses.
You can get everything you will need at your local auto parts store. |
