I'm going to pick up my Silverwing tonight. I haven't paid a dime or signed anything yet, so there's still time to back out if I find something shady.
The seller owns a scooter store downtown that sells Chinese scooters. This is his personal ride.
He said it was just serviced, and mentioned that the fluids were changed. He's offering a 30-day warranty on the powertrain at no charge, "because he is so confident in the bike."
I looked for a sight glass for the oil, so I could check how dirty it is, but I didn't see one. Apparently, Honda used an old-fashioned dipstick for this one. (I just found that out)
The brake pad thickness looked good, from what I could see in the dark with my flashlight.
Tire tread appears to be 50% or better.
I've asked for the service history, manual, and spare key.
I'll check the title to make sure it isn't a salvage or rebuilt title. (he said it isn't)
(brake fluid and hoses, forgot to check those)
The seller is a big fat dude, at least 350 lbs. I guess the rear shock might be about done.
What else should I check out before plunking my hard-earned cash down?
If this turns out well, maybe we can make a proper checklist out of it, and sticky it in the maintenance forum...
Thanks!
