My wife and i were planning a trip to Lake Placid, New York (350kms one way)this long weekend (Canada). We've been planning the trip for some time now and were waiting for this weekend to arrive. I checked the weather as the weekend aproached only to see Sundays forcast for Lake Placid call for rain in biblical proportions. So we didnt want this trip to be slippin n slidin on the roads so we voted to stay home rather than risk it. But of course i checked the weather for Lake Placid this morning and what do you know, slight chance of 1 mm rain. Needless to say im sittin at home scowling and pouting!!

Don't you know by now how the weathermen 'predict' the weather??? They look out the nearest window and if the flags are moving, they call it windy, if it is bright out, they say it is sunny, if the ground is wet, they say it is rainy!! LOL Sorry you decided to cancel the trip, BUT ..... better safe than sorry! Rain riding is not fun!!!

1)Put the loved one (no not the wife) in the garage and on the rear kick stand, 2) Get dressed up like you were going for a ride. 3) Put on some head phones and rocken music. 4) Cover your eyes with a bandanna. 5) Now, turn on your loved one (the bike) dummy, and make believe your ridding somewhere.

Hot Wings, I'm from Georgetown, ON and havent been on this forum much this summer as I have been doing many road trips. I just recently got back from Lake Placid road through the Adirondaks and then did the Gaspesie circuit in Quebec. Next chance you get I'd highly recommend you going. Lake Placid was nice but Gaspe was breathtaking. I just posted a couple of pics in my album. Hope you and your wife get to go real soon! I'm off now to Creemore. Have a great day! ....Christina

Thanks CSN. The only problem is i have to wait for the planets to align again! Wife has to work every second weekend, kids want to go camping when she's off, plus a hundred other commitments. Our summers go by tooooo fast here in Canada.

| You might try Weather Underground's Road Trip Planner.
Not saying you won't end up sitting in your garage with the door shut still, but this will provide both directions and the weather on your route for the time you'll be in the area.
