| I would-----take rear spoiler off, turn over, bosses for holes are already there----drill thru, bolt box directly to spoiler-----racks like GIVI require the same---why waste money on rack? Replace spoiler. |

| Smitty, Your new top box should have come with the mounting system. Did it not? |

| Yes Dennis,
It did come with a mounting system. I sent you a pic of that also. Let me know if you would like me to resend it.
Still haven't figured out how to attach pics in the forum as when I try my "attach" button is greed out:o(

| Smitty, I have the Bestem box on my Swing. I attached the mounting plate that came with the box to the rear aluminum wing. I drilled holes in the wing to "match" the holes in the plate. I also used longer bolts and washers to attach the plate so it would be level. This allows me to detach the top box from the mounting plate whenever I desire to do so. Works great. p.s. I also added a 1/2" piece of 8" x 8" inch foam under the top box on top of the mounting plate and never have any rattles!!! billc. |

| I did something similar for my box though I just used some window insulation foam both in the rim and under my box. Helped a bunch... KB |

| I installed my bestem 2012 easily using the existing swing holes. I had to drill extra holes in the bestem mounting plate to align with the factory swing holes. I cringe when I hear guys drilling unnecessary holes in the rear rack!!! Why not drill the plate and leave the bike "stock"? You will have to remove the rear rack to access the factory hole locations. My holes were already predrilled from a previous owner. One important rule is to make sure (before drilling your plate)to "dry fit" the box on the plate to make sure the seat can open without hitting the backrest pad etc. You will have to do all the plate mounting onto the rear rack before installing back on the bike. My box is level and solid as a rock!! Here are 3 pics of the job. Here's the installed plate. Just drill holes in the plate carefully to allign with stock holes. Note the brake light wire quick connects that allow the box to be removed easily! I used car door edging (cheap and worked excellent) to prevent the provided C channel from scratching the rack. The only extra hole I had to drill was for the brake light wires. After some head scratching I thought this was the best and only spot to bring the wires up and under the mount plate. Drilling the plastic under the rack was easy. |

| For the longest time I had this nasty rattle coming form my box and was not sure if it was from the plastic locking mechanism or under the box. Tried different things including the screw, large flat washer and wing nut to fasten the box to no avail. Then I bought the foam in a tube that expands and after placing some small wedges on each corner filled every opening I could find, After it dried, I took a hack. saw blade and removed the over flow extra. Got a flat black spray paint, masked everything and that was 1 year ago. Still no rattles. Love it when I come up with a fix that works. :lol!:
