Hello Silverwing Friends!

Yesterday was quite special to me: after weeks of hunting the 'perfect' scooter, and driving my Civic some 2400kms (1500 Miles) in the process, the Need for Wings was finally fulfilled.

I am now the proud owner of a 2003 FJS600, with only 19200Kms (<12,000 Miles) on the clock. ABS was a must, since I've broken a couple of vertebrae in the past (while.. cross-country skiing!), and my spine is missing a couple of bit and bobs ever since.

I will need some patience before I can ride the Honda, since it may take 'several weeks' to get the bike into the Belgian DIV-system. (they've installed a new computer system earlier this year and it seems that it's even worse than the previous one)

As far as I can tell the Honda is 100% original, no modifications spotted. Just two remarks: the parking brake doesn't work and the rear brake might need new pads soon.

I will give the Silver Lady a small service with spark plugs, airfilter (is K&N worth the extra $?) and oilchange. And I will have a look at the rear brake(s).

I snapped a shot or two in the garage (with poor lighting) that I would like to share with you.

I would like to thank the Honda Silver Wing Scooter Forum for the information that I gathered before making the purchase!

After re-reading, I realise that I only introduced my new bike... Embarassed

My name is Paul, I'm going on 56, ride motorized bikes for 4 decades now. Having owned 30+ bikes, from BSA to Zündapp, I have had a hard time 'surviving' the last couple of years without motorbike.

I already mentioned my spine problems, whereby I damaged the nerves to my left leg. I'm still able to walk, but prefer the comfort of an automatic (just like in my 1997 Civic).
After visiting lots of forums, I've decided -thanks to you guys- to go for a Silverwing.

I live in Western Flanders, near the French border. I hope to spend a lot of quality time with my new Wing in the future. The French coastline between Calais and Boulogne-sur-Mer is a real bikers dream: lots of bends and breathtaking views over the English Channel.

Greetings from Belgium,
Paul

Hello and welcome, Paul.

I currently live close to Bruges although I'm moving back to the UK later in the year.

I have ridden the road you mention several times and share your enthusiasm for it.

I'm sure you'll be very happy with the Silverwing.

I was in Dover a while back, this flashing light caught my eye from the French coast... Was that you 'grinning like a cheshire cat'?

Welcome to the club.
Fit a Givi Airflow AF214 screen to the scooter whilst you are waiting to get it onto the system. Far better than Honda's screen.

Cheers,

Welcome on your new ride. All the way from Western Nebraska, U.S.A
Pictures of my 2005 are on this forum under "Album". I have had very good service out of my Suilverwing and is the perfect ride for me. It now has a little over 30,000 Smiles on it. Rode it about 140 miles today but was very warm 96 degrees. cheers
