| Honda finally updated their site to show the 2013 Silver Wing! So I guess it lives another year! Available in any color you want as long as it is BLACK ala 2012. Looks to be virtually unchanged for the new model.
Here is a link to the scooter division:

| Nice to see SilverWing is to be continued in the US market another year, hope the price holds.
I am 4-5 months away from buying another new bike/scooter. Kind of getting tired of rubber band drive stuff after over 250,000 miles of it or maybe 300,000.------Weakest link in most of the new scooters is---the rubber band drive---don't ride a lot probably not a bother---I ride 20-40,000 miles year, which means there are and have been a lot of expensive belt changes....and troubles---Helix rear clutch bearings/TMAX got rid of before spent any money repairing complicated stuff as it wore out/SilverWing made it thru life with me with no drive line trouble except lots of judder, Current new Burgman 400, in shop, warranty on spun outer rear clutch bearing (in housing), change belt while it is apart, clutch rollers all shot---but I did get 20,000 miles from drive belt---possible front pulley replacement (severe grooving)-
But SilverWing remains on my list---'cause the wheels are still silver, but there is also Kymco 500, Vespa 300, Burgman 650.
As BMW owner since 1958.....and first one to say they have marketed some real junk-----I did go look at new BMW scooter---with tax in TN over $1200 out the door plus=a lot for scooter. It is huge, Kymco heart, complicated drive line (like TMAX) and 12,000 mile belt replacement. But they might have a handle on buffeting, the windshield is 15-16" from tip of nose in look over mode. Shim valve adjustment?
Wonder if the 2013 SilverWings are just left over 2012's? |

| I don't know why Honda uses so many dull colors. I wouldn't trade my red SW for a new one just because I like the brighter colors. They've done much the same with Goldwings in that most of the later ones have been in grays and blacks. |

| My dealer says that black is far and away the most popular color in motorcycles... Based on the amount I see that could be possible. But for me; would prefer something a bit more colorful (visible), how about day-glo orange? |

| Many riders seem to like black bike and clothes....making you harder to see.
I like the yellow GoldWings I see. I think ReFlex in yellow for at least the one year in US market.
But don't think the effort/time/money to paint SilverWing brite is worth it. Stick on Visability stuff might work.
For next spring purchase, new SilverWing is still on my top 5 wish list. |

| I saw a pair of Ridley motorcycles this past weekend. I'd never heard of them, but now I would like to ride one. They have a CVT from what I could see, no shifting. Nice looking bikes. Anybody here have experience with them?

| They have been around for awhile---think Cushman, Doodlebug. Want real modern from long time ago, think Salisbury(sp?) from the guy who invented this type of transmission---they had gas pedal. My home town had a few after WW2----but I never saw one of the "faired" models you can see in pictures now. |

I have some white, reflective tape and have it on my top box. Both sides and the back plus some on fenders front and rear. Need to ride after dark with someone to see if it helps. But I figure it can't hurt! |

| My list of things I want/could buy include 650 Burgman, new only----just ride/put in D and don't monkey with trans.---Many people have had trans trouble, buy used, don't know history and monkey with buttons=trouble/expensive trouble. AND think of it 650 Burgman has easy rear wheel removal, but expensive tires. I don't worry as long as I can I prefer riding under warranty-----Japanese stuff needs 2 yr warranty in US. Kymco has it, new BMW 3 yr?
Bottom Line---rubber band drive has stuff that wears out quick and is not cheap to fix---most I kept rubber band drive scooter (Helix, the ideal) was 50,000, others 36,000 miles or a little more, had 4. And just think belt could be changed without doing much other than taking cover off.
Right now my new Burgman 400 sits in shop----lots of stuff just plain worn out at 20,000 milles=belt, front pulley, spun clutch outer bearing in case, rollers---hope most of the items are paid for by Suzuki----don't ride a lot, you don't have these problems.
On my list also is another NT700V Honda----either buy my trade in back, about 20,000 miles or new left over from Southern Honda in Chattanooga as they seem to have the lowest prices. NT very reliable, plastic a bear to work with! Rear wheel removal sucks. |

| IMHO, belts/pulleys and centifigal clutches are pretty high maintenance, inexpensive for OEM's and while expensive to repair beyond the belt itself. There are two other systems that are very attractive: 1) The dual electric motor hybrid Toyota system. This piece of brilliant engineering uses only gears and, together with the internal combustion engine provide extremely wide continuous ratios and very low maintenance (mine has 195Kmiles with no maintenance at all. 2) An English company has been working on a mechanical continuous ratio drive system based on spheres. Haven't heard anything for a few years, but if they can work out the details this system could have legs. |

| Longer warranty good, I assume to cover transmission problems which probably happen to 1 % of new purchases.
If I bought one, it would then be gone before 2 yr warranty runs out, anyway.
Longer warranty fine with me. Going this afternoon to pickup my 400 Burgman.....be interesting to see how much of the worn out stuff @ 20,000 miles Suzuki covers. Be great if all. In Germany, my 1983 BMWR80RT--56,000 miles first year, no end of problems---Factory owned distributor in Stuttgart, told me I rode too much and had to expect these problems-----in other words, "we make junk" just don't ride it too much and your troubles will be small. My last new BMW bike K-75, actually one of their better efforts. |

| If I remember, my owners manual say 1 year warranty unlimited miles. The Burgman, not that I would buy one { 2 fr**en heavy , 2 Year unlimited miles, good for John LOL. For me my Swing don't kneed 2 year warranty . I never owned a Honda that did less then 80 k kl. I don't know a Swing that blew up . most Swing are still on the road. |

| Not sure about the 2013 but my 2012 is one year with unlimited miles. But for 400 bucks I added 4 more years. Probably not necessary but for that money, why not? |

| The new Honda F6B looks like Honda is vamping while they decide what to do about the Goldwing. Notice that it takes another grand to get the center stand. Heated grips seem kinda odd on a bike with such a wee windshield. It's still a very heavy bike, the reverse is going to be missed. I just recently sold my GL1800 and would rather have it back than that almost Valkyrie cum Rune. |
