End of the World today???

Today the world will come to an end according to those (literal) followers of the Mayan calendar and since it was reported on the BBC news last night, it must be right!

Anyone know the time the Mayan's said this will happen & what time zone they were in (were there time zones back then)? Hopefully I can then convince the missus why I can't complete all the jobs she insists have to be done before Christmas...

BBC news just said it's supposed to happen at 1111GMT so just under 4 hours to go...

Because aliens live there & have a spaceship ready to lift off, apparently the safest place is on a mountain at Bugarach in the Pyrenees but the police have cordened off the village - yet another Gallic plot to keep les étrangers out!

Sky News reckon it'll happen at 1113GMT - I don't know who to believe any more!!

Are the modern calculations based on the Julian or Gregorian calendars and take Leap Years into account?

I see the ice age is coming ,Im getting a lot of snow.

We've had all the Nostradamus bollocks in the past and now there's all this Mayan calendar rubbish. The Meldrew prophecy is, "the end is nigh for millions of turkeys".

Just the end of another baktun. The next one will end in 394.26 years.

BTW you have just under 30 mins to read this posting before the Earth goes bang. Must remember to grab a coat as it could be a bit chilly when I get blown into Space.

Well at least the Sun's shining, the flood in my road has subsided & I had a short ride out on my Swing at 0830 (my last one?) - maybe things won't be too bad after all... We'll know in 20mins....

Well we're still here so I guess it's "baktun the drawing board" until the next prophet of doom pops up. So much for superstition - not that I believed any of that guff of course...

Never mind the end of the world - this coalition government can't even get the current things right so God help us if they get into predicting the future!!
