BBC announced today that here in the UK it was the coldest March since 1963 and the 2nd coldest since records began - not sure I want to boast about experiencing both though.... silent

I remeber it for the snow - loads of it, right through to April. I was young enough to enjoy it then.

I lived in Devon (South Hams). Couldn't get to (primary) school for weeks. (Never made up for it though, I'm still thick!)

Cheers,

That's nothing, when I went to school I had to walk 2 miles through 3 feet of snow going up hill both ways. Morning, noon ,and night. Sad

I was in London with my family last week. Started as cold with snow and ended cold and cloudy.
Still had a great time, even while out in the weather. Just made the pubs more inviting!
Saw many scoot's, which was great since they are still rare over here.
Cheers.

So you are the reason London beer is so bloody expensive! Stick to your Budweiser. Laughing

Not a Bud' guy, but did enjoy the very expensive Fuller's products!

You think beer's expensive? Costa Coffee in the Cherwell Services charge £2.35 for a cup of tea! Shocked

We drank the complimentary hotel coffee/tea in the morning, for the most part. However, we had afternoon tea and extras at the Four Seasons which was pretty costly. We were accustomed to the prices by then and relaxed and enjoyed the flow of Ferraris, Rollers, Leapers and Bentleys flowing into the dropoff.
I would gladly move to London if the opportunity presented itself. My cousin has lived there for ten years and seems to make it on an average income (unless she's tapping daddy's estate early!). Living in an area with so much motorsport and above average road manners would be a pleasure. Loved the lane discipline on road and escalator. "Stay out of the way of those who need/want to move faster than you." This is not the case here. Escalators and highways are constantly crowded with people only concerned about themselves. We call it "GIFI" (Get In Front-Itis). Not to mention hardly any pickups, SUV's and earblasting exhaust systems.
We also appreciated the kind of overall attitudes we saw. It was an approach of "we're in this together". Over here, every person seems to be an island and is only concerned that they can do whatever they please. There's less manners and more attitude.
Don't get me wrong, I love my country, but we have a long way to go with respecting eachother and pulling together to move forward.
YMMV

Nonsense! I've just turned over my lawn and the other side is brown and crawling with worms. Rolling Eyes
