| I've been motorcycling since I was 18, about 22 years total. I've ridden bikes of nearly all shapes and sizes, excluding trikes/sidecars and full size touring bikes (biggest was an ST1300).
The first street legal scooter I ever rode was a 1986 Honda Spree, when I was about 15. I've had various Honda scooters, and a couple that were not Hondas, but they weren't worth talking about.
I've been working myself up to a MegaScooter, and finally jumped on one that I found used for a reasonable amount of money with 29K miles on it.
I found this forum when looking for information about the drive belts, figured I'd better sign up. I have no idea when/if the belt was replaced on my bike, so I ordered one, plus the service manual. I'll swap the belts, stow the existing one in the trunk, go through the belt light reset procedure (it's not lit right now but maybe going through the motions will reset its counter to zero, maybe not), and call it good for now.
See you on the road...

| Welcome to the forum and hope you like your SWing. I have had mine for 6 years and still really like it. It is very comfortable and will take you anywhere. There are pictorials on this site for changing your belt that will guide step by step. I did one and I think there is a video on here too. Congrats. |

| Thanks! I've changed belts on Kawasaki ATVs (special tool needed for pulley removal), a Polaris RZR (pulley removal not necessary),and Yamaha ATVs (special tool needed for pulley removal, but I made one myself).
I suspect the the worst part of this belt replacement will be getting the side covers off so I can get into the CVT housing. |

| Yes, the panels is really the most time consuming IMO. But the pictorial I did shows what to do and it seems many have said it made things a bit easier. |

| Cool, just looked over the PDF and it looks pretty straightforward. I do have one question though:
Is it only the J. Costa variator that has those pins that wear down, or does the stock one have them too? I've ordered up a belt, but not the pins.
If this question is covered in the PDF, I missed it. |

| J Costa uses pins, stock uses rollers. If you have a J Costa then IMHO you have the best. If it is a stock variator then I suggest the 24 or 26 gram Dr. Pulley Sliders.
Welcome to the forum BTW.
Cheers, |

| FWIW, I just routinely put in a new set of rollers when I change the belt. They're cheap enough ($25 or so if I remember), and they do wear down some, so why not.
Enjoy your Swing, ride safe, and welcome. |

| I won't know what's in there until I take it apart, so I'll hold off on buying any rollers at this point. Will the service manual I ordered have a parts diagram with part numbers for the rollers, or do you have that info handy?
I'm pretty happy with the current power/speed/acceleration of this bike, so I don't think I'll be changing up what's in there, just maintaining it.

Here's where I got mine last time. Part number 4 is the roller set. $21. |

| Thanks. Once I verify that my setup is stock, I'll order up some rollers and put them in the parts cabinet in the garage for next time. |

| Just ask my wife. It's a Han Solo thing. Before it was hip to be a Star Wars fan again. |
