| My swing insurance was due for renewal so i did a little shopping around. I was paying $848.76 per year with State Farm insurance. I found it way cheaper at TD insurance with a year being $388 (same coverage). This company was recommended by some biker friends who recently switched to TD. This yearly rate may still be expensive to some and cheap to others here. Another bonus is i only have to pay the premium monthly during the riding season- march to september. No winter payments. Still paying the premium off in 7 months but it feels better not having to pay when the bike is just sitting there. Like they say, it pays to shop around. |

| That's why I dropped State Farm also. Way to much money. Had them for over 25 years and every year there was an increase. Contacted Safeco through my credit union and saved a butt load. Understand that I had all my insurance with State Farm, 7 policies total and when I called and told them what Safeco could do, State Farm pretty much said, see ya. BTW my motorcycle premium is $185 a year, full coverage with $250 deductible. |

| I also switched from State Farm after being with them for years, went with Geico and saved quite a bit on my S/W ins. |

| You may not be riding your bike, but it's still insured against theft or damage. I look at insurance as (hopefully) a waste of money ie I hope NEVER have to make a claim. Thankfully, I don't often use our National Health Service, but I'm happy to pay for it all of the time ... just so it's there should I need it. Until I do, I'm happy to pay the medics to practice on other people. |

| Even when I lived in cold places, I kept bike insured 12 months a year and paid in one lump sum----But in US you do have to watch the ins companies as they appear to be crooks.
Right now I have Geico----1 bike. 1 scooter, one 2011, other 2013 total full coverage, towing, $500 deductible $383 per year.
Before had USAA about $200 a year, SilverWing at renewal time USAA moved their bike ins plan to Progressive=$800 a year. I fled |

| There's riders in the UK that share the American passion for the 'riding season' and only tax their bikes for the 6 months of April to September, but they'll still insure it for 12 months. I've just renewed the insurance on my Silver Wing from now until May 2014. I was going to pay up as usual, then Mrs M said no way, got on the phone to the insurance company and got me it £40 cheaper, so I'm happy too. |

| Insurance is one of those things that as soon as you stop a policy something goes wrong as you will you had kept up the payments.
Last year I was glad I had travel insurance. Had to cancel the holiday. Insurance cost £75, claim was £450, a winner for once.
My scooters are insured with Carole Nash, includes recovery from within Europe. Cars (6) are with Admiral Multicar. Cars and house insurance due on the same day in early December, that is why Christmas is a low-key affair in my house!
Cheers, |

| I claimed on my holiday insurance when I had a stroke a couple of weeks before I was due to go to Toronto in 2011. They paid up but they certainly dragged things out. Never did get my poutine and Timbits. |

| My experience with insurance companies in this day and age does not say much for longevity. If you can save money by switching to a another reputable company with the same coverage, switch. Also the term accessory coverage can be misleading. |

However, if you are happy with the service your present insurer provides, but not with the renewal quote, just THREATEN to go elsewhere! The aforementioned Carole Nash provide very good cover, but are not the cheapest - by a long chalk. Last time, I told them that I'd had a cheaper quote from another insurer. That was true, but I didn't say that the cover was inferior, however, they immediately undercut it. Carole Nash have been very good to me. I'm happy to sing their praises. |
