| Plan on getting a scooter that can handle highways, 65 to 70 mph as well as country roads. Sold my Harley Deluxe last year. This old disabled Vietnam Vet can't climb on the bikes anymore. Holding up at stops also a problem. Had the Harley Deluxe beccause of 5ft 7 inch height. Need to get back on 2 wheels thought maybe a scooter would keep me going for awhile. |

| I wonder if you could get a test ride from some Dealer. Another idea to explore might be a Trike... |

| Hi "bobbyhit", Welcome to the forum! 'RArch' has a couple good suggestions there. Myself, I'm between 5'-8" and 5'-8 and a half inches with a 29 or 30 inch inseam (depending on which brand of jeans I buy). Many's the time I wish I had a couple more inches... of inseam... to help with stability when stopping or stopped. By the way, why not go to the introduction section on this site and tell us a little more about yourself. Would make your joining of this site much more cordial. Anyway, welcome again. |

| bobbyhit, welcome to the best SilverWing site on the web. I went to scooters because I have bad hips and needed something I didn't need to throw my leg over. I went thru a few scooters before I found my SilverWing and it is the best scooter I have found. I don't think I will ever give up my SilverWing. If I ever wanted something smaller I would have a look at the new Forza. Honda has a new 300cc scooter out soon and here's a link to the new Forza. It is about 120 pounds less than the SilverWing. http://powersports.honda.com/2014/forza.aspx Here is a link comparing the SilverWing and the Forza. http://powersports.honda.com/2014/forza/compare.aspx |

And I also thank you for your service & sacrifice. Maybe a trike down the road. The type using outrigger wheels ans keeping the center rear wheel are not legal in PA. The dept. of transportation says that is 4 wheels and must meet auto emission standards, have seatbelts and so on. Stinks but that is the way it is. Thought I would start with the Silverwing and when paid off see what is available in three wheel kits. Will probably need it by then. Thanks for your suggestion. |

| Thank you for your service bobbyhit!! The US doesn't seem to do enough to show some appreciation for our vets ... I LOVE my Swing ... easy to ride, no throw the leg over, no shifting, steady, even I can pick it up if it falls over (and mine has ), has enough power for freeway riding, good on slow speeds as well. Welcome to the forum. As for a trike kit, once you fall in love with riding a scoot, you may want to look at a CanAm Spyder, two wheels on front, rather than rear. Welcome ........ |

| Welcome, and I'll add my appreciation for your service!
I've ridden lots of things - and like scooters most of all. The SilverWing has been the ultimate for me - never see myself wanting or needing more. It still puts a smile on my face after many miles and several years of owning it.
There are other good suggestions here. If I were unable to handle the SWing at some point, I would consider all of them. I like the looks of the CanAM, but have not actually ridden one (yet). I have also not ridden a trike, but I think the SWing conversion would definitely be my first option there. You just can't beat that Honda engineering and reliability! |

Welcome brother from 11 year Army vet. Thank you for your service. Others have a point, trike might not be a bad idea, but if you want to stay on two, SilverWing's a good choice. Hope a dealer can let ya have a test sit at least, see how it fits. Plus they can be triked if you need it. |

| Thank you to all Vets from a retired 20 year Vietnam Vet in the USAF. Was in DaNang in 1970 working as a FAC, that's a forward air controller, retired in 1988. Always loved riding two wheelers and will continue til I die. Gary |

| Welcome bobbyhit, This place is a gold mine of info on Silverwings. After riding a hot rod 1200 Sportster (73 hp) I bought a 250cc SYM scooter, which was a little underpowered. It struggled at 60-70 mph. Then I bought a Silverwing (50 hp). I've never looked back. Plenty of power. Your friends will never have to wait for you, for sure! It's a buyers market on the used side. Lasy year, I bought my 2003 with 1945 miles on it for $3700. It was and still is like new. There's no need to buy a junky one. Just watch Craigslist and grab a nice one when it becomes available. I went older because I was waiting for a red one. They haven't made red ones in quite a few years. Plenty of silver ones out there. Enjoy! Waterboy |
