| Horobags (Marco) changes his bikes / scooters more than some people change their underwear. I don't know what he is riding at the moment, there again he may not either! The Scoot I bought that Mark traded in is very well sorted. He said it was the best handling Silverwing he had ever had.
Cheers, |

| Talking of handling, I've just moved to a Silverwing after 13 years of Burger 400 ownership. One thing thats really obvious is the front suspension....I t feels as if I have none!!!
Find myself taking the long way round the smallest of potholes......it really is harsh. Would I be best checking tyhe fork oil as the bike has covered 39000 mls |

| Welcome, If you are thinking of servicing the front suspension then do yourself a favour and get rid of the stock springs. A conversion to Hyperpro is the way to go. You can do a search of the forum topics for further info! - GTscootz wrote:

I agree. I found the Burgman 400 to be a superior handling scoot to my SW ... prinarily because of the front end handling. Guess I'll need to do some reading up on dem dar HyperPro tings. Souds like a possible solution. ~ Bugjr ~ |

| Last year that I found my bog standard Silver Wing handled the bends of the Kyffhäuser hills in Thuringia, Germany far better than previous rides there on a 400 Burgman K6, and a 650 Burgman K8. In the damp conditions that day the Honda felt far more confidence inspiring than the two Suzuki's I rode there in better conditions.
The Kyffhäuser is where the German knees down brigade come from all over on their sports bike to ride as a side trip from the nearby Harz. I've found both the Kyfhäusser and the Harz have ideal roads to compare what I've ridden there before. Even the Honda CN250 Helix I rode there on my first trip there handled better than the lardass 650 Burgman. |

| Its not so much the handling through bends, just the teeth rattling, back jarring I receive when I hit what seems like the merest crack in the road, that the Burg400 just absorbed |

| What are your rear shocks set to? I find 3 fine for solo riding, and the Handbook tyre pressures of 29 psi Front and 33 Rear work for me. Has the dealer or previous owner over inflated the tyres? |

| Rear shocks are set at 3, going to check pressures after work, thankfully just under an hour

| No doubt there are a lot of variables to what each of us considers "good handling" and a lot will depend on "how" we ride.
I base my comparisons on those few and far between times when I can ride very aggressively i.e. through the twisties at "The Dragon" in North Carolina and to me, the SW just did not feel as planted nor was I able to attack the twisties with the same gusto and confidence as I could with the Burgman 400.
