| Model28a,
Why don't you put this together in a kit and sell it. I would be your first customer. People like me don't have the equipment to produce brackets like this. I would gladly pay someone to make one for me. |

| I forgot to say welcome to the forum. One thing I did different when I did the above mod to my but rest to backrest. Was instead of using nuts and bolts to hold the homemade extinctions to the stock brackets I used a tap to cut threads in the homemade extinctions. Then after I bolted the stock brackets to the homemade extinctions I ground the bolts flush. That way there were no nuts or bolts sticking up to rub into my back. P.S. I sure type slow, two posts in-between my first post and this add on. so I will add some more to this one. mike712, I have made a few sets for friends here local, but I was able to fit them to the bike and make any adjustments if needed. Also it is awful hot right now out in my garage. I do have one bracket for a pattern so if I do get a rainy day that is not to hot(and I can't ride) I will try to see if I can get out and make some. If I do I will let you know. |

Terrance, I felt the same way. I am handy with a wrench but there are limits to what I can and will tackle (not getting any younger). Anyway, I purchased a kit from the below eBay seller and it worked flawlessly and was a quick and easy install. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Silverwing-Reflex-Drivers-Backrest-kit-Complete-/270772988952?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f0b53ec18 Just something for you to consider. |

| That looks like a nice mod also. Can you remove the lower pad if you like? One of the friends I made brackets for made a lower pad for his and he really likes it. I tried it and it pushed me to far forward. I have also seen the one made out of vinyl covered plywood and I didn't like it. I would buy the one in the link Glenn gave if I couldn't make my own. Now if I had $199 burning a hole in my pocket I would buy one from Utopia(link below) but I can't condone spending that much for something when what I have works fine. I have a Utopia on my Morphous that I took off my Burgman and it is nice. Had I not alredy put it on my Morphous I would have put it on my Silverwing. http://www.utpr.com/silverwingnew.html |

| The Utopia back rest looks great but also takes a lot more to install and is not reversible. model28a's backrest looks easier to install and is completely reversible if you want to remove it.

| The ebay back rest looks fine, however, the Utopia (other than the installation issue) offers more features. If you regularly carry a passenger, the fact that the Utopia hinges to allow it to bend flat forward allows easy access for the passenger to enter and exit the rear seat. Also, the "angle" of the backrest is adjustable with a veritcal screw in the rear bottom to make the backrest move forward or backward for a more upright or laid back driver support. I talso has a small zippered bag attached to the rear side for a few incidentals. Perhaps the ebay model could incorporate some of these features.... that would be awesome..billc. |
