| Hi All, I manufacture and sell a custom made GPS mount that places the GPS, cellphone, Camera, or Camcorder between the handlebars of the Honda SilverWing or Relex Scooters. This mounting system uses a 1" Ram ball which is included in the price. The mounting plate is black epoxy coated 1/8" thick steel and uses stainless steel screws & washers with 2 special spacers made of 6061 T6 aluminum that provide plenty of support and will not crush the handlebar screw hole structure. This mounting system holds like a rock and looks good. I have sold many of these mounting systems to my SilverWing Brothers and have gotten good reviews from all and bless those who came back and purchased another for their friends scooters. The price is $45.00 USD + $6.50 USD shipping. You can purchase with Money Orders, Personal check, or PayPal (if you use PayPal add $2.50 USD for PayPal fees). INTERNATIONAL: The price is $45.00 USD + $13.00 USD shipping. You can purchase with Money Orders, Personal check, or PayPal (if you use PayPal add $2.50 USD for PayPal fees). If you would like to purchase a mount for your scooter, please contact me through this forum and I will send you the purchasing information or email me at : dennisberney@cox.net Thank You and ride safe, DennisB Thank You for looking DennisB

That is a really nice set-up you came up with. I think I may go for that in a month or so. The wife may get mad if I start buying stuff right after XMas. |

| Hi Jeff, Every one that has purchased one of my GPS mounts have said nothing but good things about it and how well it holds their GPS units, like a rock. Mounting your GPS between the handelbars works great. At night the GPS is out of all that rear headlight glare from the cars or trucks behind you. During the day the GPS is out of the way but can be seen by just glancing down, just like looking at you speedometer. All and all... it just works GREAT and it's made of the best materials.
Thank You, DennisB |

| Dennis,
That really is a slick mount and I will be sending you an order soon. I had been working with some mechanical engineers at work to come up with a solution like yours. Your mount is simple and looks very good, with a great placement location. |

| Dennis -
Your mounting hardware looks great! My PayPal account had about $20 in it, so I just transfered funds from my checking acct into Paypal. It takes 3-5 business days to move, and when it gets into PP, I will email you with an order. I have yet to get a GPS unit. I will be shopping between now and riding season. Any suggestions from your experience and comments from previous clients? |

| Hi Gene, You asked the big question. There are alot of great GPS's on the market today and Lord only knows witch one is the best for mounting on the SWing. The only things I wanted in a GPS was to have it shock proof, weather proof, work well, and at a affordable price. This Lowrance XOG filled the order but it's just not glove frendly. But it works for me. Another thing is getting DC power to your the GPS. I saw a ad on Ebay for a motorcycle hardwire cable assembly for a good price and this would be a snap to install. Here is the thread to the ebay sight:
http://search.stores.ebay.com/MF-X2_hardwire_W0QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ4QQfsnZMFQ20X2QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsaselZ1024522QQsofpZ0
This seller carries all the different GPS hardwire cable kits at a good price.
I hope this helps......Dennis |

| What's the difference between the ebayer's cord vs. taking the cigarette plug in cord and cutting of the plug to get bare wires?
I will look into the Lowrance product. I use a Lowrance GPS in my plane, and am pleased with that. |

| Hi Gene, Just cutting the GPS plug end off and installing the wires to the scooters hot, 12 volt wires will not work. The scooters voltage (12Vdc, 30amp) needs to be droped down to 5Vdc, 1.5amp's to meet the GPS's power requirment. This electrical voltage/amp drop down takes place on the small circuit board located inside the cable end that plug's into the cigarette/power outlet. It reduces the voltage and amp's down.
Thank You, :D

| Gene,
It is surprising how much information we can get from forums. I would be totally lost without them. There just isn't any information about the larger Touring Scooters in magazines. I have learned a lot from all the forums I visit, whether they are Silver Wing related or not. |

| Dennis,
After just ordering your GPS mount, I also ordered the hardwire power cable for a Lowrance XOG. My question is where to tap into on the S'wing. I did install an amplifer and speakers for my S'wing, and I ran the power cord directly to the battery. Is that what I should do for the GPS or do you have a better suggestion. My plan is to install your mount and get the power cord hooked up. Then I will order an XOG. I have seen them for decent prices on Ebay. Last question (for now). Does the XOG include the ram mount that holds the unit that will connect to your mounting hardware? Thanks for all your expertise. |

| Hi Gene, They have a very good deal on new XOG's on ebay and with free shipping. As for hook up, I used a splice off the big white wire off the headlight connector. This makes the GPS power switch off when the scooter is turned off. The XOG does not draw that much power and does not effect the light. The other thing's you'll also need to get from Ram are:
3" Arm, Cradle diamond back ball mount, and Lowrance XOG Cradle.
I have these things. I bought these when I needed to take a picture for the ad for ebay. They are just not being used. Would like them? If so... you can have them for $25.00 and I will ship them with the Silverwing mount.

| Dennis,
I mounted the GPS mount earlier today and it is really nice. I will post some pics too so others can see. But it is so easy that pics really aren't needed. I did take all of the steering covers off since I adjusted the handlebars... I pulled them back a bit and it is so much more comfortable. But I will post pics of how I did it and how it looks from from the same angle I look at it when sitting down. Thanks and good work. |

| For any present or future viewer of this forum looking at the GPS or Dual Flag Mount items manufactured by Dennis. I have both and they are top notch. Do not be concerned about the quality or his craftsmanship. They both add to the beauty and use of our Silver Wings. I attended the PGR dedication in Mississippi yesterday and three people looked over the flag mount and GPS mount. Dennis you can be proud of your work. Those that see it know immediately that it is not CCS. Thank you for your extra effort to put quality in your items. Gary |

| Regors, I bought one and mounted it and it works great. I went on a long ride this last Saturday and it works better than the mount I have that is on my handlebar. Being in the middle helps shade it better than when it is so high up on the handlebar. I'm glad I bought it and it is very well made. |

You will not be disappointed. If you need more pictures or more information, do a search and read more. This fellow makes good stuff. Kinda sad it is going to not be available after the next 16. | Dennis or other will probably give you an actual value... Gary's spec is tighten to snug... they have been mounted for about 8 months and I just checked them a week ago... they were still tight. BTW.... the reason I checked... my front fender fell off and exploded when I hit a tough bump between the highway and a bridge. Cost me about $150 ... checked all other screws and bolts to try to avoid any other surprises. I found nothing else loose. Gary |

No torque value is given in the Honda Service Manual for these screws or I would have written that information into the installation instructions. Just use your best jugement. But do not over tighten them.

Yeah...that was Dan that sold those. I designed mine and then found out that he had made 10 and sold them for $50.00 a copy. I think mine is stronger. It's made of 1/8" steel plate not aluminum and I custom make engineered spacers that work really well supporting and holding what ever gets attached.

| The reason mine were so expensive, was because I was paying a professional to do them. There was a development cost, and a per unit cost, which was added up and then divided by the number of units to be sold. I am very happy that Dennis is making these and can make them available to the community at a lower price. However, I still think you got your money's worth. Dan |

| Hello DennisB Just found this forum today. Noticed the GPS mounting bracket. Looks alot like the one I made but mine didn't cost $5 altogether. How do the bevelled spacers keep from cracking the plastic handlebar cover? The bolt that comes in that hole is a shoulder bolt so it will hold tight without placing pressure on the plastic itself. You can see the ones that I made have the shoulder on them. |

| In fairness, in a fleeting glance at the picture, they do look bevelled rather than square-cut but mine, too, have shoulders. As for the cost: those of us without either the skill or the tools to make such items buy from those who have. I've seen enough machining done to know that it takes time and time costs money. I don't know what labour charges are in the States but anything less than £50.00./$80.00 an hour is cheap, cheap, cheap! I'm grateful there are people like Dennis around with the ideas, the skill and generosity to help people like me. Thanks, Dennis. |
