PostSubject: Introduction   Introduction I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 16, 2013 12:37 am

I'm new to the forum and new to the Silverwing!  I've been scooting for about a year and a half. I started last year with my Pink Princess (150 Lance), then needed a little more speed, so I bought a 220 Blur. I organize a scooter group (Scoot Jockeys Chicago), which has now about 175 members. We do at least one long ride a week (200+ miles), so I decided I needed a bike that was heavier so I didn't blow around as much. I looked at a lot of different models and some motorcycles, but I love my scooter buds so I decided on a 2012 Silverwing (I named him Dallas).

So now to accessorize!  I installed a ram mount for my phone and 12 volt adapter. Now I need luggage. There are so many options. I'm getting a Givi topcase, but a girl needs more space. So I want to get a set of saddlebags but I don't want to scuff or scratch, Dallas, any suggestions on which would work best.

Second question, I also want to change out the standard windshield. Givi makes two:  the AF214 or the Windscreen. Any suggestions?  Pros/cons?

Thanks in advance for your help. I've been reviewing some of the posts and this seems to be a great resource for info.

welcome  I think that most people have liked the AF214 wind screen. If you check the search box, I'm sure you will find a lot of information on the items you are looking for. At least it will give you an idea of what others have done.

Welcome to the site and hope you enjoy your SWing.  I have had many screens and like the Airflow the best.  Keep us informed of the mods that you do.  And if you do any maintenance you should check out the Pictorial section too.  You can save a lot of money.  Welcome.

PostSubject: Bags   Introduction I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 16, 2013 10:40 am

Years ago I bought a pair of bags from Firstgear.com Around $135.00 but money well spent in my opynion.
They are expandable and have two bungee cords on the bottom to make the bags fit tight.
I did have to buy more Velcro for the top as the original straps were not quite long enough.
I just bought strong glue and glued the pieces on.
You can see what they look like on my album.
Also be careful how you attach the bungee cords from underneath.
I learned that the rear suspension goes up and down,
(no kidding) and will burn the cord.:lol!:
What you will be looking for on that site is the
(Firstgear Onyx Saddlebags) If you highlight that and then right click it will open another window, then just click the part that says go to and you will be directed directly to the address

Helloooooo! cheers

I expect you know already but bear in mind most saddlebags are not waterproof.
They have shower-cap covers but when I use mine I put the contents in plastic bags inside the saddlebags.

I quite fancy one of those cylindrical bags that sits on the pillion seat and doubles as a backrest:

Welcome to the forum neighbor. Where in the Chicago area are you from? I am on the Northwest side. I would like to know more about your group. (Scoot Jockeys Chicago) You will find lots of good info here and nice folks. I really like the Givi AF214 windscreen. I also picked up some Ogio saddlebags this past season. I like them better than my Prima's. A little smaller but more convenient to take on and off. Don't have to worry about them being to close to the exhaust. They are expandable. They were about $129.00. I picked them up at BMW Countryside.

PM me with your club info. Ride safe.

Hello & welcome Smile

I only have limited experience with windscreens, but my advice would be to fit one that you look over rather than through (unless you only use it on dry days Wink),mine came with the tall Givi touring screen which is getting progressively cut down

Hello and welcome, I recommend the AF-214, great improvement over the stock windsheild. Do a search for saddle bags here, I've seen some nice one's in several posts here. Good luck on your Swing, you'll love it!
