| A call is going out to motorcyclists all over the country (UK) to help create what is believed to be the world’s largest poppy. It is planned for motorcyclists to come together on Sunday 10th November to ring the 117 miles of the M25 in Red. Calls are going out to motorcycle clubs, groups and enthusiasts to be on the M25 by 12:30. They are asked to wear a red T-Shirt and a poppy. It is intended that all the bikers will converge onto the M25 from the 36 slip roads and services area, all to be on the M25 at 12:30 and when the front of each group has caught up with the tail of the previous group the ring will be complete. We are also going to try and get Google to take a satellite picture of this spectacular event.
The time has deliberately been set to allow those who also wish to show their respects at 11am and observe the 2 minutes to do so. Julia Stevenson, who is co-ordinating the event said: “There has always been an affinity between the biking community and the armed forces. Perhaps this stems back to when dispatch riders were used to carry vital messages to and from the front lines. This is an opportunity for the biking community to offer a mark of respect to those who have fallen defending our freedoms and liberty”
She added: ”If we can get enough bikers to join in, and we have estimated we need about fifteen thousand bikes or more, we can complete the ring very quickly and keep disruption to a minimum. We will also be making sure there is sufficient space between bikes to allow other vehicles to use the M25unhindered.
I would also like to stress that this isn’t a protest or any kind of political statement, we are quite simply coming together to say “Thank You” to those who have given their lives in the service of their country and, in doing so, give us the freedom to do this”. |

| I can't help thinking it would better to donate the cost of a T shirt and the fuel to The Royal British Legion, rather than clog up the M25.

| You're right, last year I went with hundreds of riders on a Help for Heroes run from Squires Biker Café at Sherburn-in-Elmet up the A1(M) to Marne Barracks in Catterick. Most riders couldn't keep in the staggered formation we had to keep in on the ride up and were constantly switching sides. Add to that the Harley and Gold Wing riders who panicked if they weren't in sight of their mates and had to overtake everyone looking for them.
I rode over from Cumbria earlier that morning to attend the run, in fact I'd only gone past the barrack a few hours earlier. I was on reserve when I reached Catterick so that run cost me a bit in fuel costs. I got a cheap XXL T shirt I didn't want or need as a sticker would have been better, and most of the the day was spent hanging about in car parks. At Catterick there was nothing to do but queue for burgers at an Army field kitchen, it was a waste of time and the money I spent getting there and back would have been far better given to a Forces charity. So at the end of last year I set up a monthly bank donation to the Help for Heroes charity.
I'll pay my respects at a Remembrance Service on Sunday. |

| Iam with you Meldrew, i don't go to these get togethers as iam basicly a loner and prefer my own company, but, i support Help the Heroes charity all year round in the way you do. I will be paying my respects in my way, on Sunday. I was not in the forces but, my Father and both my brothers were. |

| I live in a Free Country in that I can choose with whom I ride.
I've done the Easter-Egg Runs, Christmas Runs, a Ride To The Wall but I think Meldrew's remark: 'most of the the day was spent hanging about in car parks' sums it up.
I'll be in the Market Square on Sunday, paying my respects at the War Memorial in harmony with people all over the country. |

| I'm afraid the last straw as far as I'm concerned was recent discussion by Ride To The Wall people that the last event hadn't been covered by the News Media, particularly TV. For whose benefit are they riding - is it just an ego-trip or even, dare I say, a substitute for Religion? |

| I shall do the same as every year & buy 2 paper poppies (at a tenner a piece) from the seller in the supermarket when we go shopping this afternoon,TBH in my opinion while it is a`truly noble gesture the cash will be of more help For those that do attend .... very well done & I hope the weather is kind to you all |

| I've had criticism from certain people because I wear a poppy tie pin alongside my Armed Forces veterans badge, all year round.
I lost good friends in the Falklands war, and they are in my thoughts more times than just one day a year. I do see Rememberance Day as a special day, and on the 11th November I will still observe the silence, and yes, I will still remember the sacrifices made, and still being made, but I also remember those who made the sacrifices at all times during throughout the year.

| Graham I have a lot of respect for what you do. Yes we should remember our heros that have fought, gave their life or have been wounded so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have. It is easy to remember them when we have a day that the government has sat aside for them, but they deserve all the respect we give them no matter what days we choose to do so. Even and especially if you do it 365 days a year. |
