| I need to first start by saying that I do not currently own a Silverwing. The reason I joined this forum is because my wife recently got her motorcycle license, but is a bit intimidated by "regular" motorbikes.
I have been riding motorbikes for over 25 years and used to own a 1982 Silverwing GL500. It was a great bike but had to sell it when moving. I was dong a search for "Silverwing" and that was when I discovered the "new" version of the Silverwing. After doing some research, the fact that it does not required shifting/clutching really appealed to my wife. And that fact that it has a 600cc engine should be enough power for me to enjoy riding it. But before making a purchase decision, we would like to take one for a test ride.
So my request is this: is there anyone in the Southern Ontario area (ie Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener, Niagara) that would be willing (after the snow has all melted) to let my wife and I try out their Silverwing? This would help immensely in helping us make a decision.
Thanks. Kenton. |

| Kenton,
You and your Wife don't have to wait till the snow melts, come on down to Sunny Arizona and you folks can use my SilverWing for a test ride. The temp. today is going to be in the high 70's.

| kjanzen, Most dealers will let you take a test ride if you have insurance card and valid drivers license. These Silver wings will sure surprise you with their ride and handling. Come on down to Texas and try mine out.

| kjanzen,
Welcome to the site and hope you enjoy it. If this is for your wife she may want to try one since the SWing is 550 lbs when full of gas and oil so they are quite heavy. They are also pretty powerful as well. My Swing has done 104 per gps and gets up to 80 pretty quick. I'm not sure how big your wife is but if the SWing is a bit too big you can look at the Burgman 400 and Majesty 400. I had the Majesty and it will take her anywhere she wants to go in comfort. I rode m/c's for years before going the scooter route and had a Honda Reflex (250cc) for a couple of months but they are far too underpowered for any interstate travel. Many have done it but I topped out at 72 mph gps with the windshield I had. There is a huge difference in power between a 250cc and a 400cc scoot.
Just wanted to offer other solutions if the SWing doesn't work. But the SWing is very comfortable and will go up any mountain in the U.S. or Canada with no problem. |
