Introduction

 Hi all.
My name is Richard Holt, born and raised in New Zealand and living in the Netherlands since 1969.
I have always had a soft spot for motorbikes and owned one since the age of 18.
It started with a Jawa 350 from there i have had a Honda black bomber, Suzuki GT 750, BMW R750, Suzuki 750, Honda Goldwing,
Honda Pan European ST1100, Honda Pan European ST1300 and after i got ill a could not ride a motorcycle anymore so i made the switch to a motorscooter the Yamaha X-Max 250 and now i have a Honda SilverWing FJR 600a from 2006 with only 11000 Km on the clock. 
I think its a very enjoyable bike, the only negative point is the fuel consumption it does only 16 km to the litre as even my honda ST1300 did 18 km to the litre :lol!:

I am not sure about liters and all, but I get 50 mpg if I ride like old people have sex. If I roll on the throttle, I will get considerably less. The SW will drink the fuel, for sure.

Perhaps you are rolling the throttle a bit?

I had a Suzuki 750 triple and a Goldwing such as you did.

16 kilometers per liter= 37.63433 miles per us gallon which equals 45.19695 miles per imperial gallon. Not good. A couple years ago when i first aquired my 05 SW i got around 62 miles per imperial gallon (canada), that would equal 51.62579 us mpg. Decent but nothing to be proud of………enough math………welcome to the forum.

Yes welcome to the forum! Fuel mileage could be better on the SWing. On my2012 I usually get 50-60 MPG (US). Not bad but the new crop of Honda 700's do SO much better.

 The first thing I would try is clean the air filter. The only time my gas mileage has gone to high is when the filter was dirty.

That is a good point. I would run a little Seafoam through the tank as well.

Welcome to the SW Group. There is alot of very experience people on this site, that is what I love about it, I'm sure they can advise you on the gas Mileage.

Funny note, back in the stoneages, when I was a teen you could buy gas for $ .19 a gallon. We did care so much about the price per gallon then.  :lol!: :lol!:
