| Hi folks. After a couple years going without I just picked up a '06 SW. I thought I would say that I have always worried that the sidestand was to short, and needed a larger footprint. Well, I got a deal on my Delta Blue because it fell over in the previous owner's driveway. And I have to say, I was suprised t the amoount of damage: most of the front fairing tabs broken, broken slipstream windshield, busted inner box upper sleeve, scratched left rear cover.
I've read the forums on fairing tab repairs and sidestand extensions. Once I get the fairing off and see what else is broken, I'll decide whether I want to repair all the tabs, or but a new one. But I think I will get a larger foot welded on, and get a round plate with a piece of fish line attached.
I thought of passing this one up, but it was a great price, and I am enamored by the Delta Blue color. Call it a Silverwing rescue....

| Welcome to the site workingbadger.
Hopefully it won't cost too much to get everything fixed. How does it run otherwise? I haven't had any problem with the side stand as yet but I do have a plastic "foot" to put under the stand if the pavement is questionable. It's about 3 1/2" in diameter and was made for this purpose.
I bought my 08 from my sister in FL and trailered it home. She had tipped it over a couple times in her driveway and got "gun shy" about riding it thinking it could happen at a stop light and be up the creek. The only damage to it was a couple of very minor scratches that you really have to look to find and a bent left brake lever. I took the brake lever off and put it between a couple of 2X4's in my vise and got it straightened out without breaking it. I used the other lever as a pattern to know how far to bend it.
It only needed a new battery to get it running. And, even with a 1/2 tank of 2 year old gas it fired right off and ran fantastic. I dumped a few ounces of SeaFoam into the tank and rode to the gas station and filled it up then went for about a 100 mile ride. I didn't get too far from home just in case it broke down but did want to ride it a bit to get the feel of her and see how she handled.
I haven't looked back or regretted buying it and love every ride so far whether long or short.
p.s. Where abouts in WI do you live? I'm retired so maybe some day when I have nothing to do, which is most everyday, I could take a ride over there and buy you a cup of coffee. ANY excuse for a ride!!! |

| Hi Dale,
I'mm about 20 miles east of Madison, so it might be quite a ride to get here. I have just had mine for a few days, and am still a little leary of taking it to far from home. I might take it in to have the suspension checked out. It rattles quite a bit with all the loose plastic. Had it up to 60 though. Maybe if I take the fairing off, I will be able to check it out better. I broke down and spent $90 for the black plastic that runs from the gas filler, up under the glove boxes. It has a couple of long cracks in it, and is the source of much of the noise.
Once I get it put together, and find some luggage that fits, I'm hoping to take it for some rtrips. Looking for some rallies in the area. |

| Welcome to the site. I am envious about the color of yours as my 11 is black. I think Honda is out of the wing business so it doesn't matter what color a person wants. I enjoy mine very much. Its kind of make no pretense nor statement, just ride and have fun (and get 55 mpg). |
