| If you use the search box in the upper left corner and type in crash bars, you should find several threads on this topic. I know it has been discussed, but I'm not sure if anyone has found anything that really works. Too much Tupperware! Give it a look and maybe you will come up with something that works for you. Also, you can look in individuals albums if someone has posted pictures. |

| Aren't Fehling's more designed as trim rather than for crash protection? I'm kinda sure that even in something as basic as dropping the scoot in a parking lot (car park) those Fehnling's would suffer major damage and offer little protection for the tupperware.

| Yes, cosmetic. I speak from experience. |

| I think putting crashbars on a swing would look hideous. Saw a pic somewhere with the fehling thingys installed, hard on the eyes |

| There are no such things as crash bars for the Silverwing.
However:
If you take a look at my album, you can see where I installed rub rails. This is the same 1/2 and 3/4 round adhesive rubber trim used as body side moldings for automobiles that runs along the length of your car and protects it from car doors hitting and dinging the body of your car.
On the Silverwing, I placed this at locations where the plastic is likely to get scuffed should the bike accidentally fall over. I know this from experience. Protection from cosmetic damage is the best you can do.
You should be able to get this online. I got mine in black, but you may be able to find colored and chrome versions as well. Half round is also called D-shape, and U shape is what is used on door edge guards because it goes around the edge of a flat piece of steel. Some people use the u trim around the sides of the windshield, especially if you have the clearview with the wider area near the hands. If you still can't find it , talk to your local AUTO repair shop. They can get it for you or point you in the right direction.
The product should cost you less than $50 to cover the whole bike. A decent auto trim guy will have this stuff in stock and probably do the job (parts and labor installed) for less than $100. Most dealerships do not keep an auto trim and pin striping specialist on staff. They have someone that comes out and does just that. You probably can get the name of their trim guy from the service writer if you ask nicely.
MUCH cheaper then Fehling Rails.

| "Crash Bars" do not work in crash, period. However spill guards/tip over bars would be nice-----think protecting expensive plastic.
Funny but in Korea my new Daelim came with 360 degree protection bars, very sturdy, even served as strong mount for top box. SilverWing should have been so equipped. |

| When I was blown over in Ireland last year the brunt of the shock was taken by the centre stand footpeg and the left brake lever, there were a few small scuffs on the left side panel and underneath the footboards. I got the feeling that the Swing was designed to roll sideways ! |

There are Footboard Sliders and Fork Protectors from R&G which may help. http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Honda/Silverwing_FJS600/2008/TP0008BK.aspx http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Honda/Silverwing_FJS600/2008/FP0118BK.aspx |

| Thanks for those links. Dunno where those floorboard protectors connect to, but unless they are mounted to the frame then those floor supports will transfer the impact force to the tupperware.
Now the fork protectors appear to be easily DIY'd |
