Put fuel stabilizer in the swings tank today to prepare it for its winter rest. Started the engine as the instructions said. Decided to go for a ten minute ride to run the stabilizer thru. Sky was dreary but the temp was a balmy 7°c. Felt decent for riding, no reason to come back early exept for the threatening sky. Glad i came back because it started to rain. That will probably be it for the riding season. Im no John Grinsel ! The swing is covered up in the corner of the garage. Who knows maybe a mild winter day i may get lucky enough for another quick ride. Im sorta looking forward to the snow this year. I just bought a shiny new snowblower for the driveway. Ive used a plow on my atv to clean the driveway for the past few years but last winters cruel snowfall made the atv struggle and stress to plow it. Itching to try the blower. Im sure the novelty will wear off quickly, it does have handwarmers tho

After two weeks or so of cold (for November) temps, yesterday and today were in the 50 degree range. Put Stabil in the tank, topped it off and went for a ride. Between Saturday and Sunday, I put on just over 100 miles! Guess I have to redo the Stabil and top off again, but it was worth it! Plus, I was the only bike on the road yesterday! Today a few H-D guys were out until it clouded up and the bottom fell out of the thermo. Prolly have to wait for the Chicago January thaw for more riding weather, or may get lucky. Positive thoughts!

I remember the days when I lived in Illinois and had to make the decision to put my bike up. When I was younger, teens and 20's, I would ride in the winter. But I always had an enduro though and thought it was fun. But here in California if it isn't raining I may ride. I also had a nice snowblower in Illinois and I thought it was fun and they also do a better job, IMO, than a blade. Is it the 2 stage blower so you can blow it further away?

I know those that don't live in the snow, or like the snow, can appreciate a good snow blower, But I always enjoyed it to the point I would do the good neighbors, but I also did it as a business. It is pretty good money to go out for a few hours and do about 20 driveways. |

Three years ago we moved from Western PA. to Phoenix AZ. I left this and a 28" two stage 10 HP Toro to the new owner and don't miss either one.

Hope u left only the plow and not the lovely atv!? I always enjoyed plowing with the atv but last years extreme daily snow made it a chore. Ran out of places to push the snow. Driveway kept getting narrower and narrower as winter kept on wintering . |

I finally got my driveway paved this summer. My snowblower would pick up some small rocks and throw them onto my snow covered lawn before the paving job. I had it up a bit so it wouldn't catch too many stones but it did manage to get a few each time. Now that the driveway is paved I lowered my snowblower down to about 1/8" so that it doesn't scrape the bottom of the blower on the pavement. We got a snow of about 14" and I waited for it to quit before going out. My old (1980's) Honda blower worked great and got all the way down. The only problem was when a gust of wind would cover me up with the blowing snow from the blower. It didn't matter which way I blew the snow either because Mother Nature would change the direction of the wind. She's mean!!

I feel SO sorry for all you guys freezing your tail pipes off. Come over to Santa Barbara Ca, this week (Saterday) and join me and around 300 others in out toys for tots run. The wonderfully needed rain has subsided and will be 70 deg. We will have the regular Tri Tip, chicken, ranch beans and salad at the Elks Lodge along with a live band, after getting a royal police escort through the city and pissing off the people wanting to cross the street. :lol!:

hotwings allow me to apologize for hijacking your thread. John we and having a toy run here on the thirtieth but the toys go to local families that are down on their luck. Our run used to be for Toys for Tots until one year the biggest sponsor and the fire department asked to put some local families on the list. Toys for Tots told them that all that was decided at the national Toys for Tots headquarters. The biggest sponsor and the fire department decided to start a charity just for local families. All the money and toys are given out and no one takes a paycheck.

When I moved into a townhouse, the snowblower went to the highest bidder, as did the mower, rake and something called a "Wolverine Snow Scoop", used on the roof when we really got a big snow. Nowadays, contractors take care of the work, leaving me to ride the Swing and my HPVelotechnic recumbent trike - or dream about riding them!

I sure don't miss the snow. In Juneau I had a tracked 18hp snowblower and got plenty of chances to use it over the fourteen years I had it. It used to boil my blood when I'd finally get the driveway open to go to work and while putting the blower in the garage the city plow would go by and put a 4' high ice berm across the end of the driveway. I could break through it with the truck but by the time I'd come home it would be one solid mass of ice so I often got a chance to blow the driveway twice in a morning. I swore that one day I'd mount the thing on the front of the truck and drive South until someone asked me what that thing on the front of the truck was. I came pretty close to that when I moved South to the Rogue River Valley.
