| To all Members,
When posting please refrain from being belligerent or what some come off as 'attacking' others. This is just s scooter site and it is about riding scooters and enjoying them. This last topic about "Trips ---few seem to be taking them" has just gotten out of hand and had to be closed off by a mod. I just saw the last few posts and I can't believe that some people get upset because someone trailers a bike to a ride or on a vacation.
Some are able to ride long distances on a bike and others aren't, or just don't think it is worth riding so far. I know if I had an RV and could trailer a bike...I would. Some just ride for enjoyment where others are very 'hard core' riders. But this site is just to share comments, knowledge and to enjoy yourself's here.
Those that begin to make posts that are attacking in manner will be deleted. We will not edit the post to make is sound correct but we will simply delete the post.
John Grinsel and Meldrew, please take note of this topic which will become a 'sticky'.
To me, "banning" is something I find very difficult because i'm very big into 'freedom of speech'. But the topic about 'trips' has become disrespectful and we mods will give temporary bans for a day or so and then delete the offensive post.
Riding a bike should be enjoyable and coming to this forum should also be enjoyable. So "Do Not" make posts that are attacking in nature.
Thanks,
JeffR
I am editing this to also say that this is not just speaking about the topic "Trips---few seem to be taking them" but for all posts going forward. We just need to be respectful and to understand we are all different. It doesn't mean that one is better than the other but just different. So, if you are one of those 'attacking' people please just don't do it.

| I agree JeffR. It's one thing to disagree with someone. It happens all the time. But to get downright nasty is not called for. This should be a funner (if that's a word) site to have conversations and exchange ideas and views. I've learned a lot in the short time I've been a member of this site and enjoy being here and commenting. I've also seen some get downright nasty when others disagree with their point of view. I don't know how many people there are on this planet but I'm sure not all of them agree on everything all the time. However, I feel we can be disagreeable without name calling etc.
Just my two cents. |

| I have been going to Sturgis since 1993. Seen alot of posers there but now found that I have trouble with long distance riding due to a deer hitting me at 70 mph. Long story short, I would need to trailer any long trips due to messed up knees and shoulders. I have met riders from all over the world at Sturgis. Common thread is the bikes, two wheels or three. Does not matter what the situation, people are quick to judge and everyone thinks their opinion is the only one that matters. I feel that there is enough conflict in the world to not worry about why someone trailers or not. Happy to have a 09 ABS Silverwing and still riding. Life is too short and no one gets out alive! Keep the rubber side down..... |

| Yeah right on. I still have problems and pain with my shoulder from a crash nearly 4 years ago which limits my riding to the point where I want to(heaven forbid) walk after about 3 hours, 2 1/2 with pillion. The club I ride with has alternatives for people with riding problems and age so they are never left behind or discriminated against. This goes for camping arrangements and any other activity. Cajoling me about it and trying to make me feel inadequate is akin to kicking a blind person in the shins. People who belittle others like this should re evaluate their situation. And what they will do when they no longer can ride or have restricted riding thrust upon them. I was watching the post unfold and was peed off at the attitudes being expressed.

| Since I'm supposed to be the villain here, I didn't mention disabled riders trailering anywhere in my posts. I couldn't care less about trailering to Sturgis and Daytona and all that bada** biker stuff, or the riders who trailer bikes to ride the 30 miles of the Tail Of The Dragon. You have a different mindset in the US to UK and European riders, and of course you take offense a lot easier too.
I've attended rallies in Germany where I've rode there and been awarded the Long Distance Award, and I've been to others where bikes have been trailered there and ridden the last few miles to Register at the rally. The riders still record their bike as having covering the distance from home to the rally, not the few miles from where they've left the trailer. I been to a couple of international rallies where a dozen or so 50cc bikes mysteriously appear, the general consensus is they're taken there in a large panel van under the guise of 'support vehicle'. It's allowed in the rules, and the fare for one van on a ferry is cheaper than a dozen bikes.
The trailering thing was summed up to me once by a rider I met at a BMW rally. 'There's riders, and there's poseurs and polishers'. They're not disabled, just owners who don't want to ride a few hundred miles, maybe get their fancy bike or riding gear dirty if it rains, and it's so much nicer for them to drive there in the car with the bike on a trailer to a nice hotel, put their his and her matching suits and helmets on and ride to the site.

| I guess I am bad, too as I am rider----posted my handicaps....and of course it was edited out? I am 75, DAV at 40%, have no cuff in left shoulder, right one going, knees bad (get paid for them)---throw a stroke and heart attack in there, too. But I ride everyday and done so since 1955.
So riding is the thing, ridden to both Sturgis and Daytona. Elephant Rally, Stella Alpina and MZ rally at Lauffen and AugustusBurg, etc
Not great fan of trikes in their present state....the ones with wheel in front, as they are dangerous. Can AM is ok a lots of design to make them almost idiot proof. Had 2 Messerschmitt KR200's, so have at least 100,000km 3 wheel trike time, but they were pushers.
What I say here is based on my $$/time/actual experience learned on the road not at Sunday school.
Riding? does that offend anyone?
I live near the Dragon----see lots of bike trailers/carriers there.
Funny thing no riders get ticked off about riding, but trailer bikers and the types seem to be offended by actual riding/riders.
My SilverWing is for riding, not sitting on trailer. |

| Well put, Jeff. I agree completely however it appears the two posts above mine still have differing opinions to yours. |

| Yes and that's why we have free expression of speech and internet forums. Neither myself or Mr Grinsel were having a go or "attacking" anyone, able bodied or disabled in our posts.
I've been injured, I had two 12" stainless steel pins inserted into my left femur for a couple of years after a crash in the late 80’s, my left wrist is a bit crooked from a compound fracture, and I had a stroke in 2011. If I'd had any doubts about my riding abilities, physical strength, balance, confidence etc, or was given medical advice to stop riding then or in 2011, I would have stopped riding straight away with no regrets whatsoever.
I'm well aware I'm back on here after being banned by the good grace of JeffR and I didn't expect everyone to be happy about it.

| It seems to me that this thread is turning into an extension of the locked thread. I think the views of some members regarding trikes &/or bikes on trailers are now known by the majority of members. Why not take a deep breath & simply agree to differ in opinion, then draw a line under the subject & get on with life. |
