| I like in a gated community and we use remotes to open the gates so I wanted to install a remote to make it easier to open it as I approached. I had an extra remote so I just bought a waterproof stainless momentary switch off eBay and installed everything yesterday. I soldered wires inside the remote to the push button switch contacts then ran the wire out the area where the belt clip would be. The wires fit tight so this acts a strain relief. I then used 3M double sided tape to stick it to the inside of the fairing. Use the clear 3M tape with the red backing. There is indoor and outdoor tape so get the one rated for outdoor use. This is great stuff, I put up house numbers with it 3 years ago and it's held up even in the hot Fl sun. I then drilled a hole in the fairing, wired up the button and screwed it into place. I do not recommend installing the button in the place that I did. It is very tight inside the fairing to try and get your hand in there so had to get a friend with very small hands to get in there to screw on the mounting nut. Just poor planning on my part. All done and it looks and works great.

Looks great. The only thing I'd suggest would be to use a weather proof switch so there'd be no corrosion problem. You could do a quick and dirty water proofing of the switch by cutting a bit of thin rubber to make a disk a bit larger in diameter than the switch and secure it over the button with double sided tape. One could still press the button through the rubber but it would keep rain water out of the switch.

Yes, in my first post I noted that I used a stainless steel waterproof switch.

Sorry 'bout that, all I can claim is old age! I missed that, as I said it's a nice looking installation.

I did a Similar upgrade. Put the button in the middle underneath the dash and ran the wires up under the cowling where I’ve taped the opener underneath. It’s very handy when I drive up to the garage and the door comes open after pushing the button.
