Hello everyone, I have not long just bought a Silverwing in Black, this is my 4th maxi scooter and my favourite without a doubt its a 2012 with 4k full history and one owner, I have already added 2 mods which I am extremely happy with the first thing I added was a CTEK MXS 5.0 Smart Battery Charger / Conditioner, I have connected the battery cable in the boot for quick connection I love this thing, and today I just fitted my Givi Airflow screen i downloaded the install info from someones dropbox on this site, but i added the extra 2 bolts, the screen looks amazing I'm very happy with that also, apart from that it's stock without a scratch and runs great, this site looks fantastic and I am happy to be a member. Dave

I was nervous drilling the two extra holes, but the bracket felt a lot tighter when the extra bolts where in, and after reading about being carfull not to push the rubber gromit through I pushed one through, felt like an idiot

I must admit i spent quit a while on this site reading up how to do it before I started, however when I started taking it apart the main problem was the lugs on the front faring all coming off because the previous owner had snapped them all off then covered everything in loads of rubbery glue which just came off! I didn't have to drill anything because the plate was already on! Where about in Liverpool are you, I live in Birmingham but come up quite a lot to see my son and grand daughters in Woolton village!

That sucks what the previous owner did, I have read about a lot of people putting the plate on but not putting the extra bolts on due to having to drill the fairing, I live in Maghull

Great place to hang out, Davidwilliams21. Welcome from Atlantic Canada. It is not riding weather here, yet. So, we do the next best thing: talk about our rides and whatever else crops up. Jay.

Me n Hyo are from the great state of Texas, so we get decent riding weather most of the year, although it can get so hot you don't want to ride in the summer, 113f is pretty brutal on a bike, though I imagine it's not as bad on a SW as on the S40 I recently traded for mine coming off a moto with NO weather protection, the SW is a revelation, especially when you first realize if you pull the knees in, even your legs are safe from the weather yesterday I rode through a brief shower and nothing but by helmet and likely my gloves got wet with the stock screen

Welcome and enjoy your new scoot. The SW is a great little machine and about as reliable as a motor vehicle can be. Glad to hear you tied down the reinforcement plates on your GIVI. I've installed both kinds, the Air Flow and the Adjustable. The reinforcements really make a difference, lots less motion in the windshield specially at higher speeds. Drilling that hole through the plastic is a lot less nervy when one uses a small bit first to make sure the hole is in the right place also to prevent cracking when the large bit goes in.

Thank You exavid, That's exactly what I did, I used a tiny bit, and removed the extra piece of plastic that covers the top of the dashboard this allowed me to feel behind where I was drilling and touch the bolt to have a better idea of where to drill, I was out today on it and tried the screen at different heights I'm 6ft1 and having the screen at its top height completely took away the wind noise, and the screen was not moving at all, I couldn't believe that I could here the bike instead of just wind, the bike sounds so good when you can hear it without being deafened by wind noise, that combined with my new helmet makes for a fantastic enjoyable ride.
