I have found this site very interesting since purchasing a 2003 silver wing. I am 72 years old but my mind says I can do any thing I want to. So far that has been pretty much true. I am generally a cautious rider but two days ago I took my NT 700 up a dirt road hit some rocks dropped the bike and found I couldn't pick it back up. I just could not believe it. Every time I would lift it up a little it would slide away from me. After about 40 minutes someone came along and helped me lift it. I have been riding the silver wing a lot too and I am very impressed with what it can do but I find the riding position after several hours not as comfortable as the bike for my back.

Welcome to the site and you may want to try an Air Hawk cushion or even a Corbin seat. You may want to check ebay or craigslist for a used Corbin. I had the Air Hawk and the trick is to use as little air as possible in it. Just barely keep your bottom off the seat. That helped a lot for me when I went on 5-6 hour rides.

I've got the same back problem on the scooter. It's fine on smooth roads but it it gets bouncy it all goes through my back, it's the nature of the beast with cruiser riding positions I guess.
