| I haven't tried this but I read once upon a time in a "Hints from Heloise" that toothpaste on a bathroom mirror will keep it from fogging up. I would be careful and not use a real abrasive brand. I had a problem once in some real cold weather that my shield fogged up when I had my face really covered and I was breathing directly on the shield. I just opened my face shield a slight bit to vent my breath. Like Max said, spit can clear goggles under water. Should work in this instance too. Let us know what works for you. |

| The snow mobile crowd should have some pretty good suggestions for this. What with winter coming on, we might see something very good (and not abrasive). |

| There are loads of old wives tales on getting rid of fogging in the helmet. I have tried most. Most failed.
Fog City or Pin Lock inserts are the only products I have found that work. But that depends on wether your helmet can accept it. It acts a little like double glazing - but at least it works.

I got tired of re-treating my hear every couple of days so I switched to Pinlock Anti-Fog Lense ( http://www.pinlockusa.net ) with my Shoei CX-1V lens with pinlocks ... which never fogs up. This will be my third winter with it. |

| You can try the above things that work for them or go to a SCUBA shop and get some anti-fog spray. I use it in my dive mask and it works ok. But since I don't have that problem since I don't use a shield. It doesn't really get cold out here really. |

| This device works well.

Do not use toothpaste as it is all generally abrasive. Use bar soap. Grasp the bar and put small swirls onto the inside of the face shield then towel it off as if cleaning wax off of a hard surface. |

| I have no experience with the pin lock, but I can assure you the Fog City stick on works well. I carry a spare face shield for my HJC and when on trips where fogging may occur I just swap face shields. I store the spare faceshield inside an old sweat shirt sleeve. When installing the stick-on and to ensure it goes on straight, take a few moments to make some indexing marks on the outer edges of the backing paper of the stick-on and center of the faceshield around where the perimeter of the stick on will be. Make these marks on the outside of the shield. Then when placing the stick-on on the inside of the shield, align the horizontal and vertical marks. Then wipe off the indexing marks. The ONLY caveat is that when riding at night overtaking traffic from the rear causes minimal 'starring' due to their headlights reflecting back and forth between the laminated layers on your faceshield. After you get used to it it really isn't an issue, plus you can tilt your head to move these reflections where they don't matter. It becomes easy to tell what's real and what isn't, kind of like a heads-up display on an F-16. ;-> WhitSTer |

This will be my third winter with it. I'm with honda_silver, my pinlock fitted helmet has never let me down. I have had about six or seven fog free years with pinlock fitted helmets. Not all helmets accept the system, Roof's 'Boxer' helmet for one, which fogs for a hobby. Haven't had much success with the proprietary sprays in the longer term. |
