New Silver Wing Expert !!!

Hello everyone,

Well we have a new Silver Wing Expert on the site now. Bill (Honda_Silver) has just passed the 500 post mark which qualifies him as a "Silver Wing Expert". Really it is just a bit of fun I injected into the site on how many posts we all make. There is only one more star he can get when he passes 1,000 posts. Congrats Bill and I want to thank you for being active on the site. You really bring a lot of knowledge and passion with you. Thanks !!!

I can appreciate the effort it takes, on the Steve Saunders Goldwing site I just passed 27,000 posts but it took five years.

Wow !!! You have 27,000 posts in 5 years? Now that is an active member. How many total posts are on that site? How do you like the Swing compared to the Wing? I know it doesn't compare as a touring bike but on shorter runs and around town.

Hi Jeff, the Saunders site has just a bit less than 850,000 posts so far. Not bad for a website based in Ireland. Anyone whether or not they have a Goldwing is welcome there drop by some time, I go by the same handle there. http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/
I bought my Silverwing just for the purpose of running around town. It's a lot easier to handle in store parking lots, especially two up. The Goldwing takes a lot more concentration and care when operating in tight quarters where you might get cut off. If you get cut off by a car in a parking lot while just starting a sharp turn with the GW it's very easy to lose it and drop it. No risk of that with the scooter since it's so much lighter. I prefer the Goldwing for longer runs, it's a lot more comfortable and solid feeling at freeway speeds and does give better wind and weather protection. The SW is perfectly capable of touring but not as comfortable. Also the GW has an AM/FM, intercom, CB and I can plug an MP3 player into it. Add to that the electronic cruise control and much larger luggage space and it's the better tourer. As a comparison you can tour in a Lincoln Towncar or a Smart Car, either one will do the job but one is more comfortable than the other. I like each bike for what it does best. There will be a day in the future when advancing age will mean that the Goldwing will be more than I can physically handle, not for a few years yet but that time will come. I don't want to trike it like some do so it will go. I would expect that I can ride the lighter SW for several more years past that point and since it's a Honda I expect it will last as long as I do.
