| Nice to be joining the group. Acquired an '08 600 recently and am spending some time reading and getting to know the basics. Not overly handy but willing to do as much maintenance as I can manage. Coming from an '06 Suzuki Boulevard. Being in my 60's, thought it was time to enjoy the scooter experience.
I have already appreciated the wealth of useful info found in this forum and hope that I am able to be of some small help as time goes on. |

Tim Thanks Tim. I live in the eastern part of the province in a village called Madoc which is about halfway between the provincial capital, Toronto, and the nation's capital, Ottawa. |

Ride safe Tn Traveler. Thanks for the welcome and you're right about most of our provinces - they are pretty vast. However, unless I can convince my wife to climb on the back, my trips will probably be too short to fully appreciate that vastness. |

| Welcome from another "east coaster", nooner. I'm in Nova Scotia and another here on the + side of 60. As you will soon learn, the Silverwing is really easy to work on. The most difficult part is working on it on the floor. A lift would make it even more fun. Have a look at JerrR's pictorials on this site for some great and detailed guidance.

Mike Thanks for the tip, Mike. I think i"ll start with something not too scary - an oil and filter change. |

Thanks for the tip, Mike. I think i"ll start with something not too scary - an oil and filter change.[/quote] I've found getting up from the floor is the hard part. Also as Mike said, check the pictorials and tips. Especially the one about using a six point socket. Saves having to check on a rounded oil plug. |

I'll be sure to wear some springy knee pads and count the number of socket points before I start to wrench.

| From another newbie welcome! It's a friendly forum place to be. A few years ago I passed near Madoc spending a night in Peterborough, was thirsty for some take out brew. Visited the most incredible beer store, big selection good price but thought it odd the cashier and stockers were wearing coats, then realized the entire store was a giant refrigerator! Got some excellent fish-n-chips in town too. Also, thinking back to the terrain, recall a great scooting environment. Ride safe |

The refrigerated village beer store is definitely the place to be during our current heat wave. You're right about the area being a prime environment for 2 wheel adventuring. If you are ever back this way, let me know. I may even spring for the fish and chips. |
