Got my new drive belt earlier so decided to play mechanic this afternoon and switch belts. Only 2 trips to the hardware store for some tools and bolts. Spent time making my variator tool and the first one (plywood) broke so used a piece of 1x3 and it worked well. Took me about 2 -2 1/2 hours to do everything but all back together, no left over parts and I ran it up and down the driveway and did not have any strange noises. Yea for me.
Hardest thing was getting down on the ground to do all this and then try to get back up. 73 year old bones and joints don't bend easily.

Good job. Not too difficult at all. Will be even easier next time.

Jay.

Congrats! Big savings doing own work. Education, too. Ready for many more comfortable miles.

I know what you mean about the old bones. Doing your own work tho is rewarding as long as it's done right. I do enjoy getting in the garage to get my hands dirty once in a while.

It's more fun to get my hands dirty. This way people actually think I was doing something. Sometimes I'll just go out there and grab something dirty just to make it look like I did something. Works every time...

Well done, lewjayjr. I'm slowly trying to get enough nerve to do this myself.
