| I am the proud owner of a brand new 2013 Silverwing. It now has 900 miles on the odometer. Here is the rub, whenever I go over a bump there is a bump or a clunk up front. It sounds like something is loose inside the front of the scooter. It's not the suspension. There is no rattle, just a single clunk. The steering head is not loose. What is inside the front of the bike that could be doing this? I don't want to just RIP into the front doing an exploratory without some idea of what I might find. Thanks for any serious replies. |

| Are you able to take it back to to dealership? They should be able to check it out. |

| Well, even though it's a 2013 "model", it does have a factory warrant which begins at the date-of-sale. As Easy says, 'Take it back to the dealership". Let the shop fix it.
IIRC there was another "clunking noise" report, possibly on another forum, where it was discovered that there was no or inadequate oil in one of the forks. That was on a newly delivered scoot too. So maybe your forks were assembled late on a Friday afternoon.
Maybe too it's nothing more than loose caliper or fender mount bolts.

| Thanks for the good responses. The dealer is a good option, it is under warranty.
The shock out of oil is a really good idea. The knock does seem to correlate with the rebound stop even though there seems to be good damping.
My dealers service department is a pain in the patoie. Every other department is above par. Service counterman just has lots of attitude.
I was hoping for a reply that would say, "Oh yeah thats the Framis box. Restraining strap comes loose and sounds like that."
For what it's worth I bought my Swing on an impulse. I began riding with a local scooter club whose members are just more fun than other riding clubs. My big bike is just a pain to wrestle out of the garage in the mornings. The Silverwing goes right in between our parked cars in the driveway. It's a blast on my commute, I have a ship high bridge to go over twice a day and the Swing handles it with great dignity, 70mph going through the wind shadows of the supports isn't much concern. The power to deal with traffic is always there.
Again I appreciate the suggestions and the cameraderie found in this forum!

| Don't be put off by the SW yet, the dealer ought to deal with you problem. The SW is full of quirks which seem to vary with the year the bike was realeased. Mine is a 2001 with 25000 miles and I'm constantly trying to stop a rattle or a noise but I'm beginning to realise that it's just how the bike works. I'm not dumb but it did take me a while to figure out that my keybunch in the ignition switch was causing different sounds at different speeds ! I've learned to live with these quirks. The SW starts first touch, runs fine and takes us to the shops or across Belgium and France with ease. I would like a 'big' bike but I agree with all your comments above regarding storage and handling, not to mention the traffic hopping. Hope you get it sorted and enjoy the SW experience, it's unique |

| If dealer won't engage as he should, write to Honda, and include the service manager attitude as a potential recall item. |

| I've had three Silverwings and only had a couple of rattles that turned out to loose tupperware. Be sure to check your front fender for looseness I had two SWs that had a rattling front fender whenever one hit a bump. |
