| Hi everyone. I just joined and am looking forward to this forum on silverwing. I live in Soddy-Daisy TN. Currently I do not have a silverwing but am looking to buy in the very near future. I am open to any words of wisdom that you all might have on purchasing my first silverwing. Thanks. |

| Soddy-Daisy? That's a new one. I had to google it (I learned that the towns of Soddy and Daisy decided to merge).
My advice? Dang near everything you want to know about a Wing, you can find on this site, or get pointed in the right direction. Start with the handy Search box in the upper left.
Since I now know where Soddy-Daisy is, I did a quick check of Chattanooga Craigslist and there is a decent looking bike for sale there ... relatively low miles, clean, always garaged ... I wouldn't pay the price he's asking, but there "might could" (a true Southernism) be room for negotiation ...

Welcome and good luck -- the Silver Wing is a fantastic ride.

| Welcome to the BEST SWing site on the net mjmanley51. Yup, the search box in the upper left will tell you most anything you need/want to know about the SWing and how to do your own maintenance on it.
I have an 08 SWing and learned how to work on it from this site. |

| Get an 08 or newer with ABS. In 08 Honda added an O2 sensor that should have improved the MPG. My 2ยข |

| One thing for sure, Mike, nobody here is going to badmouth the SWing, not in print or publicly, anyway. You have a lot of info to get thru and the majority of it is from owners, and mostly from experience. Good luck with your search.

| Everyone thankyou for a wonderful welcome. I am going to enjoy this forum and hopefully can find a excellent swing. To Delray I did check out the 2006 swing on Chattanooga craigslist. I went to look at it yesterday. It has 10800 miles on it. It is in very good shape. He bought a taller windshield for it. He wants $2850.00 for it. If you all think that is too high of a price let me a good price. Thanks again. Pastor Ron when I come to Asheville I will look you up. I am a retired Hospice Chaplain. Mike |

| Thats about the price I paid for my wife's 06 Swing, and yours has half the miles. Mine also needed a fork overhaul, front tire and front brake pads. So to me that seems a fair price. Cash is king and you can always try to beat him down a little more. The SilverWing is a great scooter, so much so that Im kinda on the lookout for a nice one for myself. I spin my own wrenches so I dont mind tackling certain issues. I did throw in the towel on the junker Swing I got stuck with! To much for me! |

| Thankyou sc00ter for your comments. Everything on the swing was in very good condition. The guy bought it in 2015 and has only put 150 miles on it. Mike |

| NADA says the average retail price is a little over $2,000 ....
https://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycles/2006/Honda/FSC600A6-SILVER-WING-ABS-582cc/Values
I'd tell him that and offer $2,200 cash. He'll counter with $2,600 and you can split the difference and shake hands on $2,400, which is a nice deal if it's in "very good condition." I would guess it probably has a lot of life left in it.
I've had three Wings, two were 2003 and my current is 2012. All had old brake fluid, old coolant, old tires, old drive belt ("old" defined as way beyond two years for brake fluid and coolant and seven years for tires and belt).
A Silver Wing is so reliable you can probably get by "as is" for a long time if you wanted. But I always like to update right away. If you're even a little handy with tools, maintenance is super easy on a Silver Wing. You can buy an official Honda Service Manual (NOT the owner's manual) for about $30 online.
Go for it, man. Life is short. Everybody should have a Silver Wing ;o) |

| Welcome Mike.
I find myself liking the S'Wing more with every mile. I hope the same for you!
As a reference, I picked up 2 2007s, both in the 3k mile range for a grand total of about $6300 last summer. Tires, belts, 1 battery swapped so far, plus swapped mine back to a stock windscreen from a huge one it came with. Planning to eventually add a Givi one. |

| Welcome from Nova Scotia, Mike. Sounds like a nice find with the 2006. Blue in color?
Tires likely not worn out as far as tread goes, but check for "old rubber" sidewall cracks.
Hope you enjoy the Silverwing as much as the rest of us do. |

| Thanks Cube and Mike. Yes the swing is a pretty royal blue. I did check the tires and found them to be in good shape. I did find a 2010 in Chattanooga TN on craigslist for $3200.00 with only 8500 miles on it. Unfortunately the listing went off before I could get back to him. I have contacted craigslist to see if the could retrieve the listing for me. But not sure if they will do it. What I did to do is wait, keep looking and be patient and the right swing will come along. Thanks and have a great day. Mike from Soddy-Daisy TN |

If you have the option, I'd say the later the model, the better. While rare, you can still find a 2013 "out of the crate" that comes with a Honda warranty. I bought my '12 in July 2018 with 1,600 miles ($4500). One of its great pleasures is doing maintenance without encountering frozen bolts, missing screws, broken tabs, etc. Everything works like it should.

| I found a black (not my favorite color) 2013 brand new ABS swing at a honda dealership in Grapevine, TX for $5,999.99. They actually had two of them. Would you know how I could find other dealerships who might have new swings for sale? Thanks. Mike |

| "I found a black (not my favorite color) 2013 brand new ABS swing ... "
Same here but I like the black now. Unfortunately, 2012 and '13 Silver Wings offer a Henry Ford range of choices ... "you can have any color (Model T) you like as long as it's black."
"Would you know how I could find other dealerships who might have new swings for sale?"
I've seen them on cycletrader.com and autotrader.com.
