| What is it with my SW? Whilst reassembling everything after cleaning up my clutch assembly, I noticed these marks on both the front Inner and Outer pulley halves: They won't budge even after very gentle 'wet and dry' microfine rubbing. What the ****? Could it be connected with grease and glazing I found on the clutch pads? |

| Marks are from the belt. Any grease or oil on belt. ? A little brake clean and a rag will remove it. I wouldn't worry about it takes a bit of oil on belt before it starts to slip. I once over filled rear diff. and belt was soaked in oil but only slipped at full throttle otherwise I never would have felt a problem.
The inner pulley needs the slightest amount of grease on collar. Just a little on seal wipe off excess on belt side. |

| It could be a message in Hieroglyphics left by ancient Egyptians, the Silverwing was around then wasn't it. |

| Thanks for your comments all. Grease on the belt makes sense since my habit of overgreasing the rear pulley shaft which, of course, is not necessary and I've broke the habit. Well, I've given it all a good clean but had never thought of putting a speck of grease on the inner pulley collar. I've always kept that front pulley assembly completely dry because of the risk of contamination but the suggestion makes sense. BTW Lenny, A mummy covered in chocolate and nuts has just been discovered in Egypt!!! Archaeologists believe it may be a 'Pharaoh Roche'. My Silverwing was definitely around back then! Anyhow, all seems well |

| Just thought I would add...I gave the pulleys and the belt a good clean up today. The belt was quite contaminated. Glad I took a look. Hope this stops the squealing |
