| I found a 2002 SW for sale close to me. Very low miles 1700 and photos look good so far. Need to eyeball it first, price a bit high but some Ben Franklins might help to lower that. If it's nice could be a good thing to buy. Non ABS . $2600 but I'm thinking about $1900 at most. |

I love low mileage finds but I'm also leery of the condition of the plastic and rubber bits on rarely used machinery. If not regularly "exercised", these are prone to deterioration and dry rot from lack of use. Check the cables, lines and hoses carefully ... otherwise you could be in for a fairly major replacement exercise. Also, the same used petroleum based lubricants sitting for years can have a detrimental effect on the metal bits but since the mileage is pretty low on this unit, and the oil is probably not that dirty or contaminated, this is likely not going to be an issue with this bike. Hopefully it had its first, 500 mile service to get rid of those initial cuttings and internal debris. Let us know how it turns out for you Mech 1 twa. Good Luck! |
