I have a 2002-2007 Service Manual and according to it the standard Silverwing weighs 16 lbs. more starting in 2005. Does anyone know what changed? I tried searching but got distracted about 20 times by interesting threads and had to give up.

If the Silverwing gains any weight it would be from the ABS system. I know on most motorcycles it adds around 15lbs.

I agree, over this side of the Pond where we had the FJS Silver Wing, the first couple of years it was on sale it wasn't equipped with ABS, only the Honda Combined Brake System CBS. Then an ABS/CBS version was sold alongside it at extra cost to the buyer. Honda UK then dropped the non-ABS Silver Wings from the lineup, and the ABS/CBS fitted Silver Wing became the sole version available right up until it was discontinued in 2016.
