I have a 2009 Silverwing and it has just under 13,000 miles. Lately Ive noticed a rubbing noise coming from the rear left near the belt. It has also been shaking when I first give it throttle. I read that it could be the Clutch and was told to give it throttle with front brake on to de glaze it,is that right?

Befroe taking things apart---just run engine up against brakes for 5--10 seconds. Burns glaze off things.... and remember bike is 12 years old and near 15,000 miles---time for new OEM belt soon!

Follow John's advice.  Clutch shoe noise comes and goes it's normal.  While you have that belt off pull the driven pulley and clean shoes and sand the clutch drum  320 400 Grit. There is a little bearing inside drum add a little grease to it at same time.   Set the parking brake and hold rear brake to remove the nut on pulley housing Very easy. Nut that holds it 40lbf. torque.
