| Nice to see Honda C-125 cub finished second in the rally. He rode it from CA to Maine start---carrying the tires he would need, found original chain not so good, replaced it. Left start with new chain and tires---no trouble with them during the 4000 mile plus ride or the bike....one spill on dirt.
I think many of the riders may have had trouble with themselves as they trucked/trailered their scooter to the start and probably could not stand the daily required riding. My book daily distances not bad...maybe sore butts, but doable.
My style on long rides---try to be self supporting. He spent $3000 plus bike and clothes. I might try next Cannonball----nothing else I might be oldest rider. Should be fun. |

| Go for it but my butt hurts thinking about it. 4.5K miles over 10 days that's a lot of seat time.
73 riders started only 42 finished but only 15 completed all the check points. Even some dirt roads in there just for fun.

| It would be doable on a Silver Wing but why? My Forza is just too small for that kind of trip (size not cc's). And the Silver Wing may be too big to enter, not sure. Since it starts on East coast, for me it would be a long ride to the start and THEN ride the Cannonball. And gasoline is certainly not getting any cheaper. No thanks, I'll pass...LOL

What do you base this comment on? |

| Trailer bikers often do not ride much---and long events kill them. |

Well they are only posers then and not "real" trailer bikers. If they were "real" trailer bikers, it seems to me they'd trailer their rides through the entire event from start to finish. |

| Well when I was heavily into out of state group rides and/or several day rallies with ZRXOA, we always set up a base camp or hotel as gathering/starting/ return to point. I always trailered bikes there, IMO is the smartest thing to do, bring all gear, tools, parts, food, grill, tire changer, etc., and have a way to recover bikes in case of the breakdown, etc., some of those gatherings where a week long, we have several riding groups, fast, slow, short rides, all day rides, track days, etc. IAC wearing yourself out getting there is not smart, lot's of guys ride in, but usually take the slow/scenic route with lot's of rest. There's a lot ill prepared 1st timers on the "Cannonball", they usually thin out quickly and there's a lot of well prepared/experience riders, there's support vehicles(some with trailers) as they can do any repair on rest time, but cannot change the scooter, accidents and breakdowns play a big part but Lady luck has the last say!! can't remember all the criteria, but 280cc max size, you see some Forza's 300 they barely squeak by at 279cc, but Vespa/Piaggio is the most common. IAC, My hat goes off to the guy in the cub

| To me half the fun of events is riding there---once there I do not go on group rides=too dangerous! |

| Sounds like it's just about doable on a C90. Up a tooth on the engine sprocket, an extra fuel tank in the step through and a USB socket needed. Lights upgrade for the longer stages. A C90 would have no hope of completing those in daylight.
A spare tire, tubes, bulbs, cable ties, electrical tape, hoseclamps and some wire and crimp on connectors. Gloves, visors and safety glasses. I always wear safety glasses on long trips as an extra layer. My eyes always thank me for it at the end of the day. |

| Hello all! I rode the 2021 Scooter Cannonball on my 2014 Forza 300. I rode to the start in Bar Harbor from Satsuma, FL and was going to ride back, but damaged the Forza in a go down on a two track gravel road in the Bad Lands. I was one of the 42 finishers, but decided to ship scooter back to FLA rather than ride it back as planned. And I was the oldest rider at 77 years old. The SCR route was 4200 miles with about 200 miles off road. Ten days from Bar Harbor to Eureka, CA
The next SCR will be in 2023 and will go from Southern CA on the coast to the South Carolina coast. No dirt/gravel on this one, except as an option. It will be about 8 days and 3500 or so miles. Limited to scooter with max displacement of 279/280cc. |
