| Can anyone recommend where I can get a gas strut for the seat of my 2004 'Wing, preferably in the UK?
Please don't say SGS Engineering of Derby as I'm currently in dispute with them.

| Here’s a link to a heavy duty replacement seat strut from a previous thread on this topic. Yeah, it’s from a USA source but check your UK sources for availability. No doubt it’s from China anyway.

Of course you could always use the Search function (above, left) to find more discussion on this. |

| The one above that Tim references works, I use one. It is not an exact replacement but can be buggered on. Be advised this is not a piece of cake install even using the OEM unit. Not terrible but a PITA to get to. Good luck. Some people simply carry a piece of wooden dowel. |

| I also bought mine on Amazon and it works great. I did not have any problems with the installation at all. |

| I think that's the same one I got just after I got my SWing. It might be time to replace it again as it's getting a bit weak again and doesn't want to stay up all the time. Time to order another one I guess.
There. Just ordered it. |

| For lower 48 folks, I got the Amazon one and find it slightly strong on my oem seat, I kinda have to push on the strut area to close or I get too much seat twisting otherwise. The OEM is still availble around the $30 price, Revzilla has it for $32ish, bring order up to $40 and get free shipping.

| I must have gotten one of the last Amazon struts seeing as they are now unavailable. The site doesn't say when they'll be back in stock either. |

Ta. I have just replaced mine with this one from Amazon UK. Works fine but had to drill the holes slightly larger to take the collars. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Y6KP24Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

| old bikes, parts worn or heavy backrest added---paint mixing stick works just fine to hold seat up....and cheap, too. |

| By comparison to other OEM outlets the prices are generally the same across the board. Aftermarket parts are always the first option. However, there may be 'some' parts when only the OEM part works out to be the better option. I fitted two lots of non-OEM fork seals inside 6 months but after reverting to OEM, they've been fine for years.
I fitted an OEM gas strut nine years ago and it's still working very strongly.
I'm sure our dearly-missed Tim would say something along the lines of: "You pays your money, you takes your choice".
