| My Kymco XTown 300i is gone---nice scooter, usual buffeting problems, never broke---moving to area with no or few Kymco dealers.
So next is Honda---lots of dealers if you ride a lot and have trouble. So have thought about PCX 160----but after 11 new maxi scooters and 400,000 miles with them.....do not want to think about difficult to remove plastic and not cheap OEM drive belts. So will probably get SuperCub C-125, enclosed chain, replacement chain $11---should last at least 30,000 miles....with lots of oil.Easy to get at valve adjustment, 60 extreme top speed----like front carrier and basket, Puig Windshield available, I think 2022 has side stand US market, too. Rear can mount dog box with junk I have available, either my 1998 Givi E-46 or Bestem small box. If mirrors too narrow apart, from junk box old CB750 mirrors should work/wider. I have simple throttle lock, paint markings of how wide open you are. No tool storage, but will work something out. Cheap tires/since my hand pump will not seat the bead on tire change, will carry tube to get this done in emergency change. Even my Givi tunnel bag will work. Aerostich has rear license box waterproof for papers. In N America can get by with out carrying small gas can---only Hudson bay road requires extra gas to be carried in my experience. Seat ain't most comfortable (I had C-90 on Okinawa) Solution get off every hour/period. Might even get buffet free ride---tip of windshield being close to nose in look over mode. Stay tuned....and the Super Cub is light enough to pick up alone when you dump it. |

| John,
Think the SuperCub is a nice choice. Certainly won't resemble any of the maxi's you have been riding so far, but given the SuperCub's massive popularity particularly in Asia, I wouldn't be to concerned. It's still a Honda. |

| Good choice Mr Grinsel. The legendary DaBinChe, as well as two other folks towing trailers, just completed the 4000 mile 2021 Scooter Cannon Ball Run on a Super Cub. DaBinChe finished in 2nd Place IIRC. He’s the go-to Super Cub guy and has a You Tube channel. |

| I had my 1999 C90 out for a 150km spin on Thursday. Great fun and all for less than three litres of fuel. There's only one real deficiency in it - lights. They're made for an urban existence and they don't really have what it takes for twisty Irish country roads after dark.
The C90 has an odd electrical system which makes adding spots problematic. It doesn't really have the watts for a brighter bulb but it's an odd fitting so availability is poor anyway. I would hope that the SuperCub C-125 has better lights and a more modern and conventional electrical system. I have to resort to a LED bicycle lamp held on to the handlebar cowl with a slice of old inner tube. |

| I had c-90 on Okinawa-new--no trouble with lights...in slow speed country. New Cub I do not like keyless ignition or electric bottom for seat---but Honda stuff usually works---waiting for 2022 model US as it has center and side stand/horrible color---price up, but after over 400,000 miles with maxi scooters I am tired of plastic removal/drive belt changing---wind buffeting and bike heavy |

| I will be in those 125cc footsteps soon enough after sowing enough oats with my current Xmax 300. I have been researching the Honda ADV 150 and Super Cub for a while. I think the Cub will be my pick for all the reasons John mentioned and more. Fuel mileage range is terrific. I will miss the twist and go of the Silver Wing and Xmax, but the easy shifting Cub might make some rides more interesting. Yes maintenance is almost as easy as a pedal/push bike.
And you can still load it up for long rides. https://advrider.com/f/attachments/img_1011-jpg.3221147/ |
