Subject: Anybody have thoughts on Dog riding partners? Tue Oct 12, 2021 10:48 am
I did a search for any articles on if anyone had a dog partner riding addition to their SWing, but came up with nothing.
I have just added a very docile 8 year old to my family and I think he would make a great SWing riding partner. I just need to figure a way to safely carry him aboard. He weighs about 60 lbs. and rides in the car very well.
I thought of a couple things, like attaching a laundry basket to the partner seat with bungee cords? Or perhaps have him ride in back in my Givi carrier on the back, but that would put him pretty far back from me on the driver's seat.
He is a great dog, and I have had to curtail scooter riding since I have acquired him. How can I have both and enjoy both? Maybe I am just nuts and should forget trying to have both activities.
Ideas? Suggestions?

IIRC John Grinsel used a givi top case (with a hole cut out in the top) to travel with his dog for years.

dencart2 , What Tim just mention is the best way. Never never pull your dog (friend) in a trailer. Why ? He will have the exhaust air to inhale with each breath....... Safe riding is also the best.. Michel

Givi box with hole cut in top for head....but 60lbs is a little heavy for way out back on scooter, that is not the greatest handling in the first place. I would recommend very solid mounted box on passenger seat. My dogs, 2 Jack Russells and 2 Yorkshires, have been to Alaska/Nova Scotia, Mexico, 49 states in 2014---all on bikes or scooters=just fine. Great alarm system for sleeping in tents.

I thought that all dogs like riding motorcycles. Put him on the rider's seat and you ride the bike from the pillion seat. Makes sense to me!

60 pounds would seem a bit excessive for a scooter. Just my two cents. I have a 20 pound Pug and she travels everywhere in the car or truck but never considered trying to carry her on my scooters. Good luck.

Might add on dogs---even in solid mount box, the are moving load---when they move around you feel it, even my 9 pound Yorkshire---can take away from you concentration.

60 lbs. is a fair sized dog. Check this out ... maybe there's some inspiration to be found.
