Being down with man-flu and somewhat bored, I decided to read through my insurance policy in detail (yep, that bored) and found it quite amusing.
It seems to me that the insurance company has covered just about angle if it needs to wriggle out of paying. It seems my topbox and its contents are not covered at all being 'not a permanent part of the bike'? Ditto my sat nav or anything in the panniers/underseat storage? If I use a ferry/train/plane(?) and the bike isn't secured properly (written evidence required) then I'm stuffed. If a member of my family or someone who normally lives with me borrows the bike and its crashed/nicked then I'm stuffed again. Oh, and if the bike is damaged or destroyed by anything terrorism related then no joy. I have visions of a marauding terrorist nicking my scoot to go on the rampage - imagine writing that on the claim form!
I been with the same insurer for years and they've always been pretty reasonable price wise. I've never made a claim in 40 years of riding and I'm not really concerned about much of this stuff but it sure does make you wonder :-)
