At 83, riding daily as transportation since 1955--over 75 new bikes/scooters. US shopping/availability horrible---here is what I have found---cheap bikes/scooters, my case only ride what you can pick up alone---Honda Super Cub 125 or PCX scooter----to include sales tax dealers add $1000 to $1500 in extra charges---making cheap bike costly.
My logic on cub opposed to scooter---chain case/easy valve adjust/drum rear brake foot operated/little plastic to break/big wheels, easy to remove rear wheel. Years ago in Japan has both C-90 and CS 90----they never broke. Cub of course is a little slow for N America. Cub plenty of working accessories available from Thailand----scooter, 11 new rubber band drive scooters since 1980, tired of belt replacement/difficult rear wheel removal/buffeting/like dry under seat storage----I assume new PCX 160 has performance near Helix (had 4 new ones, 175,000 miles combined, really like built in trunk, they broke intake stubs on regular basis, but easy to replace and cheap to buy part.
Meanwhilel, have new Chevrolet Spark and like heater/AC. Mine stick shift, crank windows and REULAR key. 42 MPG according to computer since purchase, on reg fuel, easy to use dip stick. I do not have to get all dressed up to protect myself from weather, too...nice for old fart!
