| My first 'bigger' trip with the Silverwing. With my former Deauville I travelled through Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg. After my roadaccident (11-2020) and recovery (2021) I was curious how I physically would respond on making a roadtrip on the Honda. So I packed it, kissed my Lovely Annette goodbye and drove off to an AirBnB in the county of Friesland, where my great-grandfather lived. Back to the roots, it couldn't get any better. To make a much longer story short: it was a Pleasure! The Silverwing fits me like a glove; very comfortabel, agile on small roads, fast when it needs to be on the highroad like the 'Afsluitdijk', the dike between Noord-Holland and Friesland. First trip is a great succes. May many more follow!!! - Attachments

| I Pressed 'Trip A' to zero and when I got home it showed 439 km's. Taking in mind Neil Armstrong's famous words is it "a small amount for most Silverwingers, but a giant leap for me since my recovery."
I did forget to tell that I sure felt tired when I came home, but managed to do very well because of this scooter's great comfort. Next time I will expand the amount of kilometers. My first aim is travelling to Sweden in june 2023, to stay with my nephew/lifelong friend Bob in the little village of Hörja (southern Sweden), boarding at Travemünde Ferry and disembarking at Malmö. And of course, back again to Holland. So these are a lot more km's.
A 'bucketllist-wish' for me but who knows... is driving to good friend who live on Malta via Germany, Switzerland (Alpes) and Italy (Rome, Pompeï), then Sicily and finally take the ferry to Malta. To me a very huge trip, don't know if that will take place. Dreams...

| I used to live in Leiden and couple of times went up to see biking friends in Tzum or Tsjom on my 1969 Moto Guzzi Nuovo Falcone. On my first trip across the Afsluitdijk, the Guzzi started slowing, missing and eight-stroking and eventually stopped. I had no idea what was up other than it had gone super rich and had eventually fouled the plug. A fresh plug and it just started but still rich as but I got off the dyke and it eventually cleared up - only for me to run out of fuel before I reached Tzum.
The answer turned out to be carburetor icing in the very moist air along that stretch. |
