| I haven’t rode my Silverwing in just over a year due to back issues. Well I’m good now and today I changed the oil and final drive oil and checked the coolant.
After all complete I started the bike to run the new oil through and noticed a pop sound out the exhaust. Here’s a video. It doesnt keep doing it once it’s warmed up, but it reminded me it’s done it randomly in the past. Any help would be appreciated.

| Although I can’t tell you what the sound is, if it’s on occasion and the SW otherwise runs as normal I likely would not worry about it, assuming it is related to the exhaust and nothing else (like the drive belt). |

| It sounds like the usual popping you sometimes get when throttling off. The sound is being echoed around your garage. Does it sound less offensive outside? More ilke 'popping' than 'cracking'.
You didn't say whether you checked the plugs and air filter? If they've gunked up during its 'down time' it could, and does, make a difference.

| Hey Loosemarbles, No I havent checked those yet, but to answer: Yea its just a pop when throttling off, its slightly less offensive outside, Ill know more later when I go for a ride. I replaced the plugs a few years ago, to the NGK (?) nicer ones. I do have a new filter, I need to put that in regardless. Thanks for bringing that up, I forget I had a new one. Thanks! - Loosemarbles wrote:

| As an aside, I went back to the copper plugs about a year ago and I've had less popping, if any. Whatever your choice, (i.e. Iridium or Copper) stick new ones in anyway. Depending on your mileage, two years can be a long time in the life of any spark plug! |

| I'm going to throw in with the air filter. When I first heard 'the sound' it had never happened before, and after some research I had the filter changed, it was totally clogged. I have been diligent with that ever since and no more sound. |

| Some folks spend a fortune to get that 'popping in the overrun' sound. |
