| When Honda introduced DCT to the Gold Wing, I hustled my butt to a dealer as a serious potential buyer. "It's time," I figured.
I pointed out to the salesman that you couldn't stretch your legs out fully, and keeping them in a down position would be mighty uncomfortable for eight hours of riding. He replied, "Just add highway pegs."
Just spend even more money on a $30k motorcycle to make it comfortable? Not going to happen. Bye-bye Gold Wing.
The BMW K 1600 has nice, fat floorboards that let you stretch out your legs completely, which is more comfortable and healthier for your circulation. Alas, it has no automatic transmission and I don't like to shift.
Production standards of the video don't match the quality of the machine, from labeling it "Golwing" to brilliant insights like, "it offers riders an exciting ride."
I especially enjoyed this gem: "For nearly four decades, the 2024 Gold Wing has been a famous touring motorcycle."
Think about that. Amazing prescience by Honda to make the 2024 famous nearly 40 years ago. |

| Delray said it best…I saw a GW at my local Honda dealership in the past, sat on it, and realized I would have to lower the pegs for a comfortable leg position (now in truth, with my STs, I have changed the bars to Helibars, upgraded the seat, and lowered the pegs, as well as placed highway pegs on both bikes, but also paid substantially less for those bikes), so I agree that it seems a little ridiculous to have to put more money into a bike that is already $30K. Plus, the bags are of smaller capacity than on the prior generation GW. I do like the GW, just not sure I would spend the $$$ for one unless it was a really good deal, and then some mods would be in order. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOSReVYsyrQ Totally agree they look like really sweet rides but if I was in the market for one I’d never buy the current year I’d buy either a leftover from 22-23 or a low mileage used bike from the current year and still get the full warranty with the leftovers,I just checked cycletrader and they have a 2022 with 3000 miles on it for $21,000 or 2022 leftovers for $23,000 and I’d bypass the $5-6000 depreciation by driving a new one off the lot.I would think that any dealer would be happy to throw in a pair of highway pegs to seal the deal on selling a current years model instead of having a potential customer for life from walking out the door and heading to another dealership over an accessory…. |
