Brought and 2003 Swing and the floor mats were in bad shape heat and cold weather beaten from sitting out side for who knows how long??? lets just put it this way I found numerous bug nest under the fairings, anyways here are the replacements, Diamond Aluminum Star-brite Tread Plate Sheet .025 Thick, Polished traced/cut to mat form and size , and some #10x5/8 pan head Phillips strategically placed, plates came up a little short because of Mat shrinkage, but will doooooooo https://www.ebay.com/itm/373202030717?var=642056325392 Floor mat Modification Mod210

Nice job. It adds a little sparkle to an otherwise bland part of the SW's 'blackness' in that area. thumbs up

Sorry to be a kill joy but, have your considered what happens when "checker plate" gets wet ie. rain ?
It becomes something akin to "ICE". Just a word to the wise.
And probably why manufacturers do not use it.

Be safe, be seen!

Jc that thought did accrued to me but I'm a seasonal rider at best and I don't ride in the rain and have not gotten caught in the rain as of yet , but if it does become a real problem I can always go back and purchase the stock type as I did not disturb its mounting holes

Diamond plate is horrible under foot. Really bad idea. Little bit of oil on your boot sole and it'll be even worse.
At least give it a good scrub with a heavy wire brush.

I've not commented so far but not only is chequer-plate dodgy when wet, it's also cold when the weather is cold. The cold can permeate the soles even of motorcycle boots.

Change of plan, I studied hard and studied long :-)Skate board guys secret weapon MOB GRIP advertised as

Mob Grip Features
Hundreds of barely-visible perforations that allow air to escape for a bubble-free application
Exclusive silicon-carbide grit binding process for grip that will not wear out
High-strength, waterproof, tear-proof backing that trims cleanly every time
Super sticky adhesive that won't peel in extreme heat or cold
so lets see just how long this holds up Floor mat Modification Img_3110

Sounds good to me but I think the embossing might cause it to wear prematurely on those spots, leaving shiny lumps standing up above the level of the remaining super mob grip surface.

Do keep us informed as to haw it does over time. I have a Guzzi with footboards that are the worse for wear and might try this.
