| I bought my Swing last March so this is my first winter with it and parking it on the street and the temperatures are in the high teens then if you add the wind it’s pretty cold out,i start it up daily but since the temperatures dropped this low the throttle is totally frozen and it takes about 10-15 minutes after the bike is warmed up till its free to move freely, i have a cover over it so its not from moisture turning to ice ,could this be a warning sign to the cable being damaged or is this just from the cold and normal from the extreme cold ? |

| Well it sounds like moisture or corrosion in the cables or the links at the throttle grip or the throttle body .
At first thoughts I would check the throttle body cable ends and butterfly movement, the engine warming up might be freeing off any frozen moisture or corrosion at the throttle body.
If the problem is at the throttle grip then I would be worth a thorough removal and inspection. An application of grease on the moving parts might be required.
If their is corrosion or damage in the cable sleeves then it might need new cables. I hope it's nothing that a clean up and greasing won't cure. Let us know how you get on.

ok thank you,as soon as it warms into the 40’s I’ll start at the throttle body end since it does go away after a good long warm up is defrosting whatever is in there that’s freezing up which I’m assuming is water,I doubt that cable was ever removed since it left the factory in 2004 so any lubricant would be long gone and it’s probably just built up moisture that worked its way in there over time.. Normally when something acts up I’m the type to just order a new one just in case it’s damaged when I have it apart but seeing this just started with the recent temperature drop I’m thinking a cleaning and lube should fix things,,, Is the cable and the sleeve it slides in one unit or can a new cable be slid into the existing sleeve ? Or is there something on each end of the cable that will prevent you from doing so? < |

| There are ferrules on both ends of the throttle cable that slip into receptacles at the throttle tube and the throttle butterfly shaft pulley, so you can't just replace an inner. There are some handy and cheap gadgets that fit over a cable and allow you to inject lubricant down the tube without (mostly) lubricating the rest of the world. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005099953518.html?src=google&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=272-267-0231&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&gclsrc=aw.ds&albagn=888888&ds_e_adid=&ds_e_matchtype=&ds_e_device=c&ds_e_network=x&ds_e_product_group_id=&ds_e_product_id=en1005005099953518&ds_e_product_merchant_id=416301031&ds_e_product_country=NZ&ds_e_product_language=en&ds_e_product_channel=online&ds_e_product_store_id=&ds_url_v=2&albcp=20705672386&albag=&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAkp6tBhB5EiwANTCx1KfotUfXOoFIx-59RmnWO823EKnnXRLRxp6tu0KeKl59MDrKetdLbhoCHBQQAvD_BwE&aff_fcid=72f0b4ddce204fdfb6af5ae24c3ce333-1705539335147-02262-UneMJZVf&aff_fsk=UneMJZVf&aff_platform=aaf&sk=UneMJZVf&aff_trace_key=72f0b4ddce204fdfb6af5ae24c3ce333-1705539335147-02262-UneMJZVf&terminal_id=ec685c1ceed14da88f3126c13e7f73e7&afSmartRedirect=y |
