| Hi all trying to find out how to replace throttle cable on 2002 sw. This sw has 50k miles. and just want to be prepared if cable should decide to go south on me on long ride. I have read shop manual no detail. can you lube this cable. I see how to adjust and adjustment is okay. |

| Dunno about lubing but it appears that there are two throttle cables which are complete with the casing(s). https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/scooter/2009/fsc600d-ac-silver-wing/switch-cable IIRC the cables are first disconnected from the throttle body and then disconnected from the throttle tube. That will allow the throttle cable & casings to be removed from the body and then to be unscrewed from the lower switch housing. Those cable casing elbows are screwed into the lower switch housing.
Looks to be a genuine PITA job. So if it ain't broke...

| Check the Maintenance section, Throttle Operation, 3-4 in my 2001 WSM says ... Lubricate the throttle cables, if throttle operation is not smooth. But do check your own manual as later models may have nylon liners which will not need lubricating |

| Buy cable set. Carry it with you. No need to disturb things on old bike, unless something broken. SilverWing throttle cable breaking does not happen very often. 50,000 miles not much. |

| I don't know if they are made any longer but one used to be able to buy a cable lube device, it fit over one end and you forced lubrication oil into the cable. |

| I use oil on nylon covered/lined cables-----oil doesn't hurt anything---my goal=smooth operation |

Cable lubers are still sold. Its a block that fits over cables and pushes lube down cables I have one. Spray can with straw forces lube in there. You must remove throttle cables from housing to do this but its not hard. Throttle tube can get dirty on bar and cause sticking also. |
