| Hi folks! I'm trying to source a pair of the Stopper Kit cords for the top box lid here in the UK... There's a couple of places that seem to have em in stock online, but the carriage charge is insane! (More for the postage than the actual item costs!)
I popped open the lid earlier today to stick a bag in, and one of the cables/cords that holds the lid open normally at what... 90°, (i.e. as it should be!) snapped and the lid nearly clunked the top of my helmet, which was on the pillion seat!
The other one is pretty much shot as well, so I might as well replace them both at the same time...
Is there an aftermarket non-oem part that would do the job?
Or should I just pop down to my local guy at the garage where I get all my work done and see what it costs from him, since he could perhaps add it to his next parts order? It just seems crazy that the online places I checked couldn't just stick these cords in an envelope rather than an Amazon-style package (box 15x the size of the actual item and enough packaging to fill a shed!)
The OEM part number is 08Z51-EWL800B if that helps...
Cheers all!
Dave.

| I have a Givi Maxia box I use on the SW and the ST. I found that the straps don’t really do all that much. I installed a couple of hinges on the inside of the box and now it holds it open in a very sturdy fashion. I got them from Leevalleytools.com but you might be able to source something similar in the UK Not sure why the pics are on their side but you still get the idea |

| Thanks Erdoc48! I might have a look at that! The shipping might be cheaper! It's a great solution... I might remove the other cord and take it up to one of the car spares places in town.. I'm sure they'd have something similar. The hinge idea would probably work quite well if I could get the equivalent length to the degraded cords... |
